What if any difference are there in the 508 cockpit rule from 2005 to 2006, quick summary is fine as I dont have a 2006 PB1 to hand

Its not the 508 rule, but the 730 for class3 that throws up a few different bits. Nice of the rya to inform everyone.

Rule 730.2 appears to be significantly changed. All 3S *have* to have reinforced cockpit/s. Any class 3 boat can have a cockpit fitted, but must comply with a minimum 3000N test standard.

There are also slight differences between the 730.2 rules and the 508 rules, and the 730.2 rules are the ones to be enforced.

In Dubai they tested canopies by dropping them from a crane into the water from a specific height.

I dont know how the others are tested...

They just seem to have a 3000N standard but dont define the test procedure.
I was thinking of possibly sticking one on the Midas at some future pont but it's too much hassle by the look of things. Let alone let sombody crane the boat at a venue then drop it in the oggin head first.

Edit: 32Kg of sand from 1mtr will give 3078.504N worked it all out
