RYA E Mail

I did Cut and Paste my Post and E mail it to the RYA,if the info is not easily available only the keenest will bother to persue it at the end of the day I would think most people looking to start racing would want to do some Basic races and gain some experience (Dip a toe in the water)prior to possibly doing a full season the following year and if there is no Basic license and they want to do more than two events will have to buy the full license they might be put off.incidently I only found out about the max of two day licenses from searching on here is it a current rule?,Perhaps if there is no Basic License then you might be able to have more day licenses per year who knows? I certainly would not want to pay the full license fee for me and my passenger to do three events. For last years Basic license did you require the medical ?Cheers Nic

Another question

Firstly I forgot to say thanks for the info thats been posted on here but some of the info from previous posts I have gained from here seems to contradict itself hence the need for a 'Beginers Guide',I think I've got the gist of what i need for the boat and safety gear but do I need a measurement Certificate for Basic Races?

Nah!

Not me!

I'm just an old "hasbeen", Jon Fuller and Tony Davis are far more qualified for the job.

Point Taken.

I will set up a 'Beginners Guide' on the BPRC website.

Give me a week or two.

I suspect that JF will run it on this forum once everything is "in stone".

Err no, don't suffer with that problem. Had a rather nice pork casserole tonight, washed down with a diet coke and a cup of tea.

No. In theory, for a basic, you turn up, pay yer money, get scrutineered, and have a go. In practice, I suggest at the very least talking to the race organiser beforehand and buying yerself a copy of PB1.

Oh, and I think at least 1 of you onboard needs a VHF.

Your localclub would be SEPA (South East Powerboat Association) Chairman Barry Williams !!
And as i said before it is the Powerboat Clubs that organise races and feed the RYA information therefore if you want first hand info JOIN A CLUB !!

Good luck

Sorry Andy, I'm a bit late picking up on this thread. Can't have you not sending in your application to race so please contact me soonest on 07860 285438 and we will get you sorted.

I think I'm sorted with most of my answers bar 2009 license requirements.I've raised these isues to save any wanabe racers the same frustration that I have experienced and hopefully more active racers taking part would eventually reduce the costs to all or if not at least make the events more viable.PS possibly looking to do the Brass Monkey so could do with an answer on license-hopefully RYA will respond,Cheers

I agree Sponge Bob when i stared racing last year all the clubs were very helpfull ie ORDA and the WWRC. ORDA HELPED AS MUCH AS THEY POSSABLY COULD DO to get me in to the water and on the start line of which i am really gratefull!!!!!

Mind you When i called the RYA for the first time they were very helpfull too!!!!! The website is never up to date and i am with ian on that one as they should be supporting the racers just as we support them!!!!!AND HAVE TO PAY THEM LOADS OF MONEY LOL

Errrr you are all assuming event Licences exist

Event refrence applies for 2008 with no 2009 updates yet available
click on this link and read the note at the bottom of page 1

Playing Devils Advocate in so much a no up todate info available & how easy it is to misunderstand for a newcomer looking at the paperwork.

I'm sure there is such a thing as event licence for 2009, just being Mr smartass to highlight

JP or officaldom will clarify I'm sure
The form does say Event Licenses(Purchase at Event)but is there still the max two per year or if the Basic license is not available is this now unlimited,If the max of two events on an Event license applies and say I wanted to do three in a season I would have to upgrade to a full license and as my boat I think falls into 3C pay that license fee?and I would presume the same would apply to my passenger?
So That could mean
Event one- Event License £50 I think thats the cost?
Event two-Event License £50
Event Three-Full license £350?
Total £450 to do three events double up with a passenger -sounds very expensive when you add entry fees etc-Hopefully a Basic License is available in 2009 how much was it in 2008?
Cheers Nic
