RYA job vacancy
I see it has just been announced that Puddifoot is retiring, so a replacement is needed.
Who are the likely candidates?

We are seeking to recruit a successor to John Puddifoot, who will be retiring in early 2014, who will develop, promote and manage powerboat racing in the UK to ensure the safe and successful running of the sport and sustained development and growth.
Great paragraph

Ah, what great memories Mr P brings. I remember we were waiting in line for fuel in RB08, when he cut in front of us (and a few others, I might add). I pointed out, quite politely, that we had crossed the finish line ahead of him and as such were next in line to fuel. He looked at me, told me to "F**k off", and proceeded to fuel up.
What a great advocate of the sport . I suggest they find someone just like him to follow in his footsteps. Simon Cowell, perhaps?

I think the organiser of the Venture Cup should take on this role. He knows a lot about Powerboat Racing, safety, courses and the like.

Hey, you should have told me at the time, I would have kicked his erm bottom and penalised him with a 2 hr penalty - with relish!!
Oh, and by the way, I guess it is now safe to publish this little list that he and his ORC buddies were demanding from me for the CMC, I doubt very much that the LMC mob are going to have to conform to these ridiculous requests. Enjoy!
To: Mike Lloyd & Simon Wood Power
From: John Puddifoot, Powerboat Racing Manager
Date: 16th March 2012
Please be advised that the meeting to discuss the Cowes Monte Carlo is on Friday 16th March 2012 at 15.00 hours in the Solent Room of RYA House, Ensign Way, Hamble, Hampshire, SO31 4YA.
AGENDA
Welcome:
1. ML to confirm the position on RYA club affiliation. The RYA and UIM are concerned that at this stage they have no contract with MPA Events and MPA cannot continue to use RYA and UIM logos until affiliated. This must be done before the proposed drivers briefing 24 March. MPA Events have to have the club nominated, and agreed in writing by said club, (if not MPA), prior to briefing on 24 March. If this is MPA it needs to have paid affiliation fees to RYA by this date.
2. The RYA are concerned as to the safety of competitors deposits: are they refundable? Escrow or similar/ Client account.
3. JP to re affirm the position of the RYA with regard to the status of the event and UIM/ RYA involvement
4. The UIM have stated that should the event not be run under the jurisdiction of the RYA it will not be awarded to another country. The RYA Jurisdiction for the event is from the initial planning stage to the conclusion of the race.
5. The ORC require the organising body to provide a full environmental study of the course (similar to that carried out by RB12) with appropriate recommendations for the race by Dec 2012.
6. The ORC require that a draft Risk Assessment and draft Race Instructions be provided by the event organisers by 11 July 2012
7. The ORC require all competitors to send copies of their racing CVs to the RYA by end of December 2012 latest. This to be coordinated by the event organisers
8. The ORC require the final Risk Assessment for the event to be submitted to the RYA by end of December 2012 latest
9. The ORC require all competitors to submit a competitor risk assessment similar to those used by teams in 2008 to the RYA by end of January 2013
10. The Race Approvals committee require the final Race Instructions for the event to be submitted to the RYA by end of January 2013
11. MPA to provide written confirmation that it will comply with all ORC requests by the dates proposed, or provide written reasons as to why they cannot comply and to propose an extension.
12. MPA to provide draft course details to RYA and competitors ASAP: rumours are that one leg is now over 360 NM as it has to skirt an environmental area.
That last one is a beauty because I see that some of the LMC legs are now around 485nm's

Thank you for the compliment Claire but I wouldn't go near that job for all the tea in China, or even 45K. Far more worthy people out there than me.

Seconded Claire.
The thought of racing 485 nautical miles smacks of lunacy and total ignorance of the sport with lack of understanding of the demands on boat and man, or woman.
With reference to my post above means NOOOooooo.

Barry Williams probably or even Fiona Pascoe, two great candidates who would knock the sport into shape.

So that's what he was supposed to have been doing...

"Early 2014"
So that means JP has only got a few months left, to completely destroy a once great sport.

Let's hope the RYA gets someone who can let Mike bring back RB - how about RB15? He does, after all, look a bit silly in his golfing clothes .

I'd like to say I can cover your food and drinking expenses, but that would clearly bankrupt me. But it still would be worth it . Bring it on!!!
