Safety boats for Cowes - sign up here please
As stated on another thread, we will be needing a good few volunteers to do safety coverage for the Cowes event on August 23rd.
I'm affraid there's no budget for fuel allowancescharter fees, so it's back to the old 'being part of the event' status for those interested.
We need boats to cover the Western Solent, Poole bay, Portland and Torbay.
Any crews who participate in the event providing safety cover will obviously get access to the pit area and be invited to the prize giving ceremony (hopefully to be held at the Royal Yacht Squadron), as we want all who take part, beit competing, or giving assistance, to be equally included in the 'off the water' part of the event including the celebrations.
We are very aware that in the past, people offering their boats & services as safety crews haven't been treated as well as they might have. This is not a mistake we wish to repeat!
If you can, and wish to help, please add your name to this thread, but please no other banter on here as we need some clear and concise as possible, thanks. Existing thread for discussion is here.

Hi all
well my boat will be there - and after tomorrow's meeting I will be able to tell you exactly what I will be doing - but my boat will be on the water offering cover at this Event. Along with four other boats, who have already PM'd me offering assistance, which is great.
Come on guys - I need more safety and marshall boats out on the water to get this Event up and running.
You'd all be out on the Water this weekend anyway - so come, come and give me a hand - let's get these guys safely from Cowes to Torquay and back again.
It will be a great weekend - it will be fun and will put the Spirit back into powerboat racing - there are a lot of people working behind the scenes to make this happen.
We need Race teams, we need safety and marshall boats - we are all part of the Offshore Racing family - so come on - let's make this happen in British Bull Dog style.
Kind regards
Gary Manchester
Chairman RYA Offshore Powerboat Racing Committee
PS: For those who are wondering the boat I'll be bringing to Cowes is a Classic Christina 38. She's not quite perfect yet, but she's getting there!

I mentioned someplace else that we would put the Bladerunner in the water as a safety boat - off Poole towards Torquay - that sortof area.

We will be happy to act as Mark Boat for any designated mark in Poole Bay.
We won't be going to Cowes, so don't need any tickets! We just need an Entry List and Timetable.......

Registration for Safety
hi Guys
I can see that there is a lot of people who are prepared to come out as Safety or Marshall for this Event.
Please can you email me at orcchairman@aol.com so I can email you back a registration form so I know exactly how many boats I've got, your contact details and the details of your boat.
This will enable me to put together the safety plan quickly and efficiently.
Kind regards
Gary Manchester

You said you were going to drive Ace's boat and he would pretend to navigate, which is more than you've ever done.

OK, I've just PM'd you both Aces number, why dont you each call him and see if he's up for me racing his boat whilst he tries to work out which way up the chart goes.
meanwhile I call the manufacturer and see if his fuel-tank is big enough and if racing is covered under his warrenty.
silly old fools!
