No, Tony Hamilton's 'Dog Gone' was was the old 'Visions of Guernsey', Gerv Brasiers boat.

I actually think the boat that has gone missing (something to do with a well known Belgian Phantom splasher) is indeed Tolemans old boat, which became 'Ocean Thunder' in the hands of Alan Clarke, before going off to Germany to a collection a couple of years ago. I seem to remember it getting restored in Toleman team colours, but could be wrong.

'Dog Gone' is I believe back in the US now.

Yes you are right, the German Police have found it and it's now up for sale complete with a Truck and Trailer. Engine headers have gone and also drive legs so there would be a bit of work to do. Damn shame because the boat was complete and ready to come to Cowes and the present owner had spent a fortune restoring it to it's original glory. Lovely boat the 38ft Bertram. If I had a spare 30,000 euros I would snap it up but I haven't!!!

Isn't there a video on Boatmad somewhere showing the Bertram being raced by Ted Tolman and "Smitty" Smith running in I think the Needles against the Italians in a CUV. From memory Ted was leading for most of the race in BIG seas until he lost some power and the Italians went passed him close to home. I think that was a particularly brave race by both teams in quite frightening seas.

Ted managed to get the RB84 onto prime time TV on the BBC six o'clock news by sinking his huge Cougar Cat "Carlsberg" together with four engines in the Bristol Channel on the second leg. The team were rescued by chopper, Ted said in the interview that the boat went down in three minutes!!

Question: What did Johnny Caulcutt have printed on his T shirts after that which really pi..ed off the CEO of Carlsberg - he (Johnny) was sponsored by Heineken.
