Shame a class for 18ft 3ltr bow riders isn't started, I seem to be surrounded by millions of them when I'm out. Should not be a problem on numbers and they all seem to live on trailers.
Only race lisences, competion insurance and someone to get them organised left then.

Don't forget we'd need to train up hundreds of structural engineers & laminators to put it all back together after each race.

Yep you're right there would need to be a ruling on what persenage of the boat is still actually racing when the chequered flag drops!

Afternoon

If you guys want to race then V24 i think is the answer! We are racing with the same events as 3c but only racing one day which is plenty! Its cost is 10k which includes boat, entry and fuel, the boats are taken for you to the events all ready to go no need to take fridays off just arrive and drive on sat for testing if you want, one night in digs, or the back of a van and race on sundays, collect your trophys if your good enough and go home! It does not get any easier or cheaper!! No maintainace cost no boat to buy no towing and one of the best boats to race!! All you have to buy is your safety kit and your licence!
Come on all you need is cash and your man pants!

as mr fuller said to me (sounds seriously like a trade punt Lance)
i think you missed the point i think the spirit is for people with old race boats or new and quick pleasure boats that dont have to comply to so many class rules and politics etc just want to race and have fun the rest will follow

Didnt realy miss the point was replying to Blufin comments on the previous page about costs 2 nights digs entry fees time off work etc which all add up to a fortune as all racers know.
Its dead easy for people to race anything they want theres always a class they can fit into in a basic race the cost are usually fairly reasonable when you compare it to boating costs in general! If anyone has any questions on racing in basic's v24 or any other class and want some advice on equipment they need etc they can give us a call at LS Marine 01202 660110 and will do my best to help!
Its great fun at race events and everone is made welcome and there's always lots of help if anyone needs it, we are all on the same wave length 'must make boat go faster!!!'

De ja Vu !!

If any of you are serious about Racing then come and have a go !! What better chance if you have not done it before, to get a free license !! This covers both National & Basic.

And YES there is an open Basic Charity Race on Bank Hol Monday 26th May !!
So stop talking about how you would have done if you did'nt have to tidy your sock draw on that particular day !!

We even have an OCR boat to hire if any of you think you are up to it !!

See You ALL in Teignmouth

Bob

What like some nameless nutter doing a basic race at Poole in a chartered RIB and doing rather well until his navigator broke

I think the V24 package is a good deal. If I hadn't blown my 2008 budget already I'd have been giving it some serious thought
Timing is bad for perhaps the first season, thing is i suspect people want to race there own boats just for the fun & the thrill.

There are limited basic options but if we were to take Teignmouth as an example, or the Allhallows race 10 days notice to get the boat & yourself sorted doesnt give a lot of leeway to any newcomer that is looking at having a go. Just think the longer the notice period the greater the chance of attracing better numbers. Difficult to do due resources / cost as so much is unpaid hard graft by those behind the clubs. That though is a double edge sword with the 2 event limit. Licences offer for newcomers this year is a good offer but I dont see a great influx but then it's still early

Just going throught some old reading and since the birth of this site, it would appear the same questions get asked and the same subjects spoke about. Amazing really isnt it?

You are absolutely right !! There is more than enough Races for everyone no matter what boat they have !!
We are looking at competing in up to 20 open class events during 2012
