Torquay

I'm still getting all the techie stuff sorted with an updated orda site, so I apologise for any links that aren't working, but in the meantime, all the information for torquay is on the site. http://www.orda.co.uk

In particular, race instructions: http://www.orda.co.uk/index.php?opti...id=38&Itemid=1
Accomodation: http://www.orda.co.uk/index.php?opti...id=37&Itemid=1

Entry Forms : http://www.orda.co.uk/index.php?opti...id=35&Itemid=1

Sounds like this Torquay event is going to be a great event with upto 70 boats partaking in the whole event...... the basic race will possibly have upto 40 boats!!!

It is with great sadness that the BananaShark team will not be attending the finals in Torquay.

I am not going to make a fuss about it here, but all I will say is that untill last Monday I was asssured my, and the other boats would be back from Egypt by the 27th. I have now been told that the boats will not be back and cleared customs well after the finals have been over.

The result of this is that I will be unable to defend my title this year - as you can imagine I am not best pleased - neither is ORDA who are now without the RIBs racing there and have to explain to any European teams that were coming over to race there won't be any boats to race against from the UK!

I was told I could enter something else to keep the numbers up though - quite generous I thought - only 10 days I'm sure Kitten could knock something up!

All is not lost - the nice people from Thundercats have invited me to race in Portugal .............

So I'm going!

I do believe that if the boats are not back the championships can be awarded by the discretion of the Race committee. I know that the OCR finals in Plymouth 2001 were cancelled due to the 9/11 event and the Championships were awarded under the heading of Force Majeure. As it is neither yours or any of your fellow competitors fault that the boats are not back in time for the finals I would consider this to be the only fair way to decide the overall Championship
See you in Torquay
