UKFFORC Cardiff finals

Despite a very rough meeting at Torquay two weeks ago the UK Formula Future fleet were all back for more at the club finals in Cardiff this weekend. Set inside the barrage the conditions couldn't have been better with sunshine and just a little wind to chop things up. A joint meeting with Thundercats, who also were holding their finals, some fantastic racing produced the 2012 National Champions for both clubs.

7 boats took to the water in the E1500 / OCR invite race on Saturday and I'm pleased to say 7 boats also finished race 5 on Sunday (unlike Torquay which saw a great part of the fleet drop off due to conditions!!).

There was some fantastic E1500 racing including the final race of the weekend which saw E10 Jake Swann and Ben Kendall take the chequered flag just half a boat length ahead of E111 'The Doc' Phil Hancock and his co-driver for the weekend Ben Pocknell, after The Doc had lead the race from the start. There was also some close battles between E08 brothers Craig and Tom Temple-Murray, E11 Mike Wills and Colin Ludwell and E99 Stewart Newcombe and Arran Scott who were spending the weekend in E12 after sustaining damage in Torquay...The loss of Paul Faulkes not being able to make it from Ireland became their gain in being able to use E12.

Bob McCarthy and Nic Surry muddled the pack up along with A55 Andy Bennett with a young Mike Wills jnr,,,we knew Andy couldn't retire from racing for long!

Overall a fantastic weekend, fantastic officials who had everything running smoothly AND on time, fantastic venue, fantastic weather, what more can we say, bring on 2013.

Well done to all for another great weekend in Cardiff, twice in one year

Not forgetting Thundercats final too which was raced over 12 heats, so in all 17 heats of racing over 2 days with pehaps room for some more if the junior UKFFC drivers were able to muster. Next year
