I think is a bit harsh.
To me he sounds like just the sort of person that needs to be listened to to try and attract more people to the races.
IMHO the crews and people involved with the racing don't have the same expirience as Joe Punter who just comes to watch, ask just about anyone stood by the waterside and they will tell you much the same, unfortunatly you need these people to make an event as any potential sponser will look at asmall bored crowd and take their money elsewhere.
Ask him what he thinks will improve the shore side watchers day.
Before you ask I don't have the answers.

He seems to have softened his views a bit now...and he's posted some nice pics of C-13.

At Torquay last Saturday, there was a group of people sat next to us on the race control balcony. They had come down specifically to watch the PB racing and were well equipped to watch the race - binoculars, cameras, videos, etc.
The timetable ran late because of the weather, perfectly understandable and accepted by all.
However, the mandatory practice lap commenced at a slow speed and every boat, even OCR's, had to crawl the Lap A course before racing could commence.
I made a point of keeping this group of spectators totally informed and placed a radio closeby, so they were aware of the progress.
About 3/4 of the way around the mandatory practice lap, they left, strongly stating their feelings about powerboat racing.
Enough said!

Yup, I'd say the sport could learn a lot from people like him too!
We try to keep our courses as visable from the shore as possible for the spectators. No one wants to sponser something that never gets seen these days, it's different now it's not on telly.
Powerboating needs to either become more of a spectator sport, or be left to those who can afford to do it with no sponsors etc, so don't care if no one sees.
