Unipart-lambs

UNIPART-LAMBS Back on Island for restoration .
Tony Hamilton has purchased UNIPART-LAMBS from the powerboat museum at Basildon.
Tony is going to remove the the damaged port side of the boat and hopefully restore it to its original speck .
Hopefully I can follow his progress from start to finish with updated photos.

Propeller Shirts

It would be nice to see the boat back in original Marathon Spec, i.e. Toleman twins -Propeller Shirts - 1984 Round Britain with open cockpits.

Could be raced in Marathon H1 (If future organisers had a policy of inclusion) with a pair of hot SBCs- might be difficult keeping speed down to 50 kts though!

Anyway - nice to see a wooden cougar cat being brought back to life

Tony Cordial did have the motors from that boat (1 set of them) may have been the KS&W's. Don't know if he still has them though.

Great news, one of my all time favourites remember Southampton race when it crashed ( got a piece of red wood from the portside which was almost totally torn off ) have a load of photos of the boat in the water then back on its trailer remember John Yeoman's seat crushed, nasty accident.

They ended up in 'Sidewinder'

Weren't two Koyote's and two KS&W's?

This hull was built in the Philipines, I did the original cockpits, Roger Throtman did the rigging, I found some pictures of the first test I'm Miami the other day

One of my favourite boats ever. The audio / video footage on YouTube building up to the crash gives me goose pimples. Not sure if it is because it is a wooden hull or what but the noise of those V8 lumps when they open up is something else. Its just raw and seems like its right on the edge ... It's just so feckin mean

Would've loved to have had a blast. Fair play to Kim l and the team.

I remember taking a video of the twins doing a 180 degree spin out in that boat whilst racing Goldrush(mono) back in about 84/85 at Torquay. What's really annoying is that it was the only video of it and we were only metres away being on the mark guard boat, and its been lost.

I was there too on a spectator boat watching and if i remember rightly the boat got towed back into Torquay harbour with it's arse end 1/2 submerged.
Although it might have been getting towed back into Brixham, i was young at the time. But i do remember the sound of those engines, they were awesome. It was my favourite class 2 boat at that time aswell. All the other class 2's were mainly quiet diesel engined jobbies, i also remember Goldrush Cat' being quite noisy too..!

On that occasion they managed to get going again, although it did take a while for both engines to get rid of the water they had swallowed. I can't remember but they may have subsequently broken down further round the lap and been towed back to Brixham. I also remember the Twins and Roger invading the caravan to watch the video, my mum wasn't best pleased.

I'm really not sure where it was, but i was with my dad and Propeller Shirts was being towed by another boat and it was sinking, managed to get to a crane in time, when it was being lifted out there was a split in one of the sponsons at the bow end. That's pretty much all i can remember, i'm sure someone on here could confirm where, when etc.
All the same, it was a fantastic boat and i would also love to see it back in that livery (Propeller Shirts) and open cockpits, them aircraft cockpits looked shite even though i fully understand why they were introduced.
