Update on RB 2012
What is the latest on RB12?
I have an owner that has bought a 13 Metre rib to run in RB12 and it is being fitted out now , also he will enter 3 or 4 cars and has paid deposits to the organisers. All attempts to contact same have been fruitless.
Can anyone shed light on this ?
Hallooooo, Cookee!
Rumour has it that you are Spokesman / Bloggist for RB 12 , so what information do you have to impart to my rather miffed client ?
Mike

There doesn't appear to be any "lay days" for this race, am I wrong? What is going to happen if they have to cancel a leg as we had to in 2008? Also, "lay days" allow boats that have broken get back in the race and the racers to rest. Asking them to race 10 days on the trot is a bit much physically frankly - exhaustion springs to mind! Just an observation.

You drive to the next leg as we all did and you work through the night with 3 mechanics, 2 spare engines a crane and mobile workshop as Hannis did.
Then you wake up in the morning with a newly refurbed boat with a hangover
Piece of Pi-- really.

Been on the blower this morning and I am assured your customer will have all of his/her questions answered by Tracey who is now doing the PR - her email is tc@round-britain.com Everything is all fine, the race is and always has been confirmed and no reason to panic!
I know one or two people have been saying it won't happen but there is an enormous amount of momentum behind the event and substantial entries in both of the air and road categories, so I have been assured once again that here is no doubt it will happen.

F*** Me - I did have a laugh!
ML thinking & posting about RB12 legs.
If you look at Marathon Racing in the UK this year, the statiscs tell you most of the boats are not hardy enough for over 100 nm.
Wanted to post the CMC distance, the web site seems to be down.

As the crow flies, quite a bit more if you go round some of the bays; for example, Barcelona to La Ciotat which is three times the size of Lyme Bay, maybe a bit more! As I said earlier in the thread, web site is changing providers and it's taking time.
Glad to hear RB12 is still on.

"As the crow flies"
This gets more depressing by the day.
Someone posting on here that has never even driven into Barcelona at rush hour time let alone been in the bay in a boat!
Good Luck!
