You really think the public keep track?
I reckon the public love watching fast boats going fast and making noise. I very much doubt if they care whether an OB boat is racing an inboard - and if they do, they're probably an enthusiast, not 'public'. Obviously a proper one design class has certain aesthetic apeal, but beyond that, I doubt it makes an ounce of difference and is just used as an excuse.
Of course, I haven't surveyed the boat watching public, so it's just my opinion, but if you like I'll get chaos to spend all weekend asking strangers if they mind different classes of boats racing together.

Great idea

Maybe you could make up a survey for him to hand out or perhaps give him a bib and a charity box so he can go round collecting donations to the 'save powerboat racing fund'

Lets start breaking down this he said / she said.....

Like I discovered - there is truth and there is outright crap!

For example, at Littlehampton, whilst discussing the entries for Cowes, I stated that it was stupid to have a single, solo race at cowes on the Thursday for V24's. The OOD said that it was what I - Marc Lamont - had specifically asked for. This is plainly incorrect. I want that on record, and the rumour that 'we' the V24 racers, through myself Marc Lamont, specifically asked for the Thursday race for V24's.

So RHINO: lets get onto your rumour. Who specifically said that V24's do not want to race with you?

This may be a good idea!

I used to think poorly of some of the other members of this forum till I met them in real life. They turned from complete assholes into quite nice people who I actually like!

So perhaps an informal discussion and meeting over a few beers would be a good step forward!

Speaking of the rumours.. I heard there were actually six or seven V24 boats trying to race at cowes.

The real V1 who found it too expensive to jump through the RYA hoops for the single event. Aparently RYA would not make any consessons on the licence costs.
V2, V3, V11
V66 who entered and raced under a basic licence
V69 who was barred from entering after calling the organiser an asshole
finally V16 who also was capable of entering prior to the cancelations.

On the event entry forms they had four boats entered. On the RYA entry forms they had two other boats entered.

Based on the payment of only four boats by the 19th they cancelled the Thursday race. Still dont know where they get their stated number of two boats from, as they clearly had cheques for four entrants.
