Venezia to Monte-Carlo record run

Metamarine Racing will try to break the Venice to Monte Carlo record Buzzi has set in 2004 (1122 nm in 23h 55 min). The crew of Marco Pennesi, Giampaolo Montavoci, Stefano Bonanno and Fabio Magnani will start in their Metamarine 46’ Corsa July 19.- 24., depending on weather conditions. The team is going to start in the late afternoon and run throughout the night to avoid daytime traffic in the Gulf of Taranto and arrive at dawn in Calabria. With only three short stops for refueling ( Vieste, Roccella Jonica, San Felice Circeo), Pennesi is optimistic to make the run in about 17 hours.

Looks like they spent most of the night drifting and are now heading back up the coast?

Seems the reason was bad fuel/dirt in the fueltanks.
They will try it again soon. Hopefully more luck then.

Panatta and Cangiano will try to break Buzzis record too in near future. Obviously they have their aluminum racer ready.

Great pics, love the juxtaposition! Also got a kick out of the graffiti on the bridge and the pissed off paddler.
