Thanks very much for the above updated entry.
Hot Lemon seems a new entry, not on website, but the bubbledeck Cigarette 39, Smokin' Aces, & Construction Racing RIB, shown on website are not on the list now.
I intend to be at Bournemouth / Poole to see the survivors finish, & wish all a calm-ish & safe race. Good Luck to all.(Especially the two entries from COPC members !)

Thanks Martin - you're right, the website needs to be updated on the entries side. It's all done in-house so sometimes the to-do list overtakes us.
We've got a 'survivor's ball', 'poole party' or whatever you want to call it at Twin Sails on Tuesday 11th with hog-roast, BBQ, presentations, beers and the rest. Tickets are only £15 - available at all race controls and on the door. All are welcome

Bubbledeck and The Venture a Cup..
To all those that are following the build up to The Venture Cup, which is looking to be a fantastic event for all both racers and spectstors alike I am sorry to say that my Bubbledeck Cigarette will not be there. Despite buying the boat 2 years ago, we started work in Florida, but within the last month I came to realise that no matter how long the boat stayed over there it would never be properly finished to the standards I am looking for.
However, on a positive note, the work that has been done is first class, the engines are built and dynoe'd.. Over 750 hp, with 95 octane gas, 680 ft/ lb of torque, twin 850ci Quick fuel custom built carburettors, mounted on pro dominator tunnel rams, the engines are built for endurance and have the power and torque to propel the boat to Monte Carlo. That was the original intention in buying the boat off EBay - as we you do!
She is now completely white, as she was in "Popeye's" time.
We have rigged #6 wet sump drives, crash boxes. The best and biggest we are allowed under UIM rules for the Historic class.
I am gutted not to be racing in this years Prologue Venture Cup Race, but I still might be competing in another boat - keep an eye out on Boatmad for update.
The Bubbledeck arrives in UK tomorrow and will be refitted in Poole or nearby.
First outing might be CTC, but not promising anything.
Hopefully get you loads of photos over the next few weeks.
EVEYONE OUT THERE, PLEASE SUPPORT THE VENTURE CUP. COME AND SEE US AT WOOD WHARF, WE ARE OPEN 0900- 2300 NEXT THURSDAY AND FRIDAY, WITH THE START ON SATURDAY MORNING. COME TO GUERNSEY AND MAKE A WEEKEND OF IT
KEEP AN EYE OUT ON BOATMAD FOR FURTHER UPDATES...

"First outing might be CTC, but not promising anything".
To me the organiser?
Or to the many people Foley promised that would see your boat.

Ctc
The plan is to be at Cowes with the boat in the water but not fully committed to the actual race yet.
It is so far from the public viewing, where people can get a good look at the boats. I like the idea of a Torquay stop- over.
However lets see what happens over the coming months with the refit.
Did last years race in Dry Martini - a great experience especially being in the same boat as Mike Bontoft and Christian Toll. First in class, sixth overall

We're looking for some final support boats to come and be a part of the Venture Cup Prologue. If you've got a boat and would be prepared to assist in either London, Guernsey, Jersey or Bournemouth/Poole then please send an email to richardcoffshore@gmail.com

Very surprised there's not been a single pic of it on here OR that its not been spotted out testing by another forum member.

Any pictures of the Boss yet ?

THURSDAY 6th JUNE
Event site and pit-area (wet & dry) opens at West India Dock, London
FRIDAY 7th JUNE
Scrutineering at Pits in West India Dock
SATURDAY 8th JUNE
LEG 1: Morning - Tower Bridge London to Brighton (approx. 170nm)
Mandatory stop of 1-hour minimum (fuel & basic maintenance)
To be considered a pit-stop, so boats can leave once 1-hour time completed
LEG 2: Afternoon - Brighton to Guernsey (approx. 160nm)
SUNDAY 9th JUNE
Lay day in Guernsey with local class racing & entertainment
MONDAY 10th JUNE
LEG 3: Morning - Guernsey, around Channel Islands (including Guillot Passage) to Northern France (approx 150nm)
Mandatory stop of 1-hour minimum (fuel & basic maintenance)
To be considered a pit-stop, so boats can leave once 1-hour time completed
LEG 4: Afternoon - Northern France, around Channel Islands to Guernsey (approx 150nm)
TUESDAY 11th JUNE
LEG 5: Guernsey to finish-line at Bournemouth Pier (approx 160nm)
Various marks to be included to add 'spice'
Final pits & extraction will be in Poole, followed by prize-giving and celebration
ENTRY
Entry list will be open from Thursday 31st of January.
ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE
As you are all aware, this event now has all our teams as the principal focus. We're therefore working hard to find ways to provide additional assistance. There include:
- low cost fuel (Guernsey is one of the cheapest locations in Europe for fuel)
- accommodation deals in London, Guernsey and Poole
- transport deals to/from Guernsey
- logistics support to/from Guernsey
- additional practical supports to reduce overall costs of entering the event
LONDON TO MONTE-CARLO 2014
This is still 100% going ahead, and looking more and more positive each day
|
Hi Blimp, Just wondered if you could confirm the fleet are still planning to stop at Brighton marina for fuel and a one hour stop ? also if you had an approx time you expect the leaders to arrive ? I realise it will be dependant on the weather conditions. Many thanks.

Sadly we no longer have a mandatory stop in Brighton. The race team deemed that it could put the race into after sunlight hours given the overall length of the first leg. It's quite possible that various teams may still pull in for fuel here
