Venture Cup

If there is any Teams not racing in the Venture, we will be more than happy to have them race at Torquay at the end of May.

Venture Cup

Guys,
I really need to clarify this "transparency" issue. Anyone can pick up the telephone and talk to any of us about this race. It is going to happen, it has entrants, it has venues and it has officials. We have channels of communication in lots of ways to publicize the race but we also have a few entrants who don't want to show their hand yet.
Boatmad is not the forum for this, much as I love it.
There is no space here for negativity; the sport is in danger of talking itself into oblivion. We have made the race open to a many boats as we can, so come on get off your ar*es and enter !
To much hot air not enough action !

Perhaps, potential competitors have weighed up the options and have worked out finance is not on their side?

Simon, as you well know, it has been hard enough for the BPRC to run a Cowes event for the last 3 years (Race distance 160 NM) - Venture Cup Prologue is 3 times the distance, with all the added logistical problems!

I think everyone needs to get a grip of reality -

Point scoring? Negative comments? - Pragmatic thinking.

Surely they will all use Torquay Event as a Practice.

Surely the rumour that the race is going to run at 12 knots all the way from Tower Bridge to Southend before it starts for real is not true, is it?

just for the record, the 12 knot limit finishes at margretness. just past the wooliwich ferry. Not down to southend.

Just a thought but why not wait until the press release rather than attempting to score points against the organisers with each of your three posts.

I wasn’t aware Mr Motorvator that I was living in China or any other Country where free speech was suppressed for that matter. It appears however that no one must ask a question of the organisers of this race or they are accused of trying to score points, whatever that means, or being negative by people like you. It was just a question which together with other questions is not getting an answer. Its all very Orwellian!

Guys - there are no unanswered questions from teams that have either confirmed their entries or are speaking with us about possibly entering. I'm sure all can understand that these are our first priority - and we have strong channels of communication in place. I'm sure also that most will understand that planning all aspects of the race can involve considerable negotiation ....even when agreements are fully in place. Such discussions continue right up to, and beyond, the race start. It's therefore not always appropriate to publicly post about matters which may be under discussion.

Group email just sent out to all teams confirming the date of the Media Launch. We'll be telling the mainstream media about the 2013 Venture Cup Prologue and the 2014 Venture Cup on Tuesday 23rd of April at (and around) London City Hall. Full details are in the group email

Waiting for news of this event is like watching paint dry. Looking at your web site it's still, Teams? Coming soon. Course? Coming soon. Checking the bottom of the Boatmad page it says there are over 5,000 members with countless visitors all awaiting info so would have thought that would have been important to you. I see that no one else is complaining so guess no one is really interested.

Popeye - if you read through previous posts by myself and others you'll see that all those that are part of the Venture Cup ....either racing this year, next year, or connected in some other way ...are receiving regular updates by group email.

Furthermore, my most recent post stated clearly that our media launch is being hosted by the Mayor of London on Tuesday 23rd of April and we'll be releasing all the latest information at that time .....including a website refresh.

Finally, we've an extremely active Facebook presence which carries regular updates: https://www.facebook.com/VentureOffshoreCup
