I'm not sure if all your competition could have even if they wanted too!

P.S I have no axe to grind with you Jon about bow tanks so go easy on the insults.

Just heard from verytricky. No record attempts today due to low viz.

They will try again tomorrow.

verytricky's best run today was 75.77. Needed 76 to set a new record.

How frustrating is that?

I got the alternator rebuilt from 3 broken ones!! The alternator was arching inside - where the metal stickyoutthingy's touch the central spindal thing. This mealted the electronics and damaged the spindal.

I got bits that worked from two other alternators, and fitted them to my 'body' and it worked ( 14 volts not 9 volts! )

Then they cancelled Thursday.

On Friday I 'only' got 5 runs....

75.77!
Change props
72.06
Change props BACK!
75.06 ( why both .06?? )
refuel
75.33
topup fuel
75.24

Iwish I had had the whole week to run. I actually matched the record, but need to exceed it to claim the record. So I needed to do 76.00 dead to claim the record.

0.23 mph extra speed needed!

Still - there is always next year!

Oh well, bloody good effort Marc, and as you say, next year!

If it's at Coniston next year, I really must make the effort, as I'd love to have a run on that lake.

Were there many people doing 'performance certificate' attempts? ie, non race boats.

I know you know but "0.23 mph extra speed needed" can bee very very difficult to reach.
The wiley guys at Windermere wouldn't even run on the lake if had rained within 24hrs mucks up the water was the comment to much mud & silt stirred up. Guess it must have been like it last week. silly thing was they were nearly always right, cant answer that as hard as I tried at the time

Had lunch with the late Peter Lee at the Low Wood Hotel and he asked how we we aimed the boat through the kilo. We responded that we aimed the boat straight down the middle of the course. "Wrong" he said.

He set up some beer mugs on the table signifying the port and starboard marks at the beginning and end of the kilo run. "Get as close to the starboard mark as possible and aim for the end starboard mark. Don't try to run down the middle as you will go side to side and lose time."

His advice was followed and we set the new record that afternoon.

As far as I know - no one.

The Pro-v set the record for unlimited inboard monoull 95?mph

There were some obscure categories.....

Some other boats ( like ski boats ) were going for unlimited Outboard Monohull - IRO 135 mph....

Not that this matters re. Windermere anymore but Geoff Purves was convinced that the longer “a run up” you could take the better.
Makes sense if you are running big props, gives the boat more time to “get up there”.
Shame the Enduro can’t be run any longer.
Its great fun seeing offshore and inshore on the same course – never forget one race up there, where I screamed at Wilson “incoming!” an OCR A boat was doing its usual at a mark, how he didn’t T—Bone us I just don’t know. Had a beer with him afterwards and told me it was a particularly tame OCR manoeuvre!
Good luck !

I have to get some sort of fantastic standoff bracket first to enable me to mount them both
