Will they get the XCAT Wet?

In response to our constant requests from our obviously concerned friends and racing colleagues: sometimes even at 3am in the morning whilst Gringo and I are catching up on that well deserved and needed sleep. We thought we would put up a website so can watch us (hopefully) getting the boat wet on www.xcat.tv

The paint is drying, the sun is hot - what's it like back in UK our dear friends? A bit chilly is it...? Oh dear... Dubai at this time of the year is just perfect!

Johnny A, no I haven't murdered Gringo yet!

To the whole clan in Cawsand Bay....yes I am missing the beer and chinese takeaways! Gotta take this powerboating seriously you know!

And Scott - sorry I missed yer call but I needed to avoid repeating myself.

Actually was tucking into an Iranian...curry that is!

So we are not going to answer phone calls at 3 am but will be calling you guys first thing...in our morning that is!!!!

Let's just say I asked him today if he has ever seen the Grumpy Old Men programme...

Still! He's a lot happier than the 150 Honda Premier Cru Team eh?

News travels around the world fast these days eh?

Slight hiccup as now require a dunk test. So 11 am tomorrow I'm gonna be there with the video watching him gasping for air! He's nervous already

Also thanks John for the support...it has been hard bloody work out here to tell you the truth and we appreciate your support mate.

Bloody hell is that Dobby there!

We had a few issues with transport and to be honest it has been hard work here getting things done but you can see Gringo having his dunker on the xcat.tv site on the video diary.
I had to do mine twice as I came out the wrong side!

Good fun though once I mastered the air supply...

:-)

Tomorrow we test (unless something else goes horribly wrong and Jean Marc Sanchez is coming to help. So pretty chuffed with that to be honest..he's a nice guy.

the web site is brilliant mate, those vids are funny

hoping to get out to dubai to watch some x-cat races, i love it out there. i wanna end up working in dubai and racing x-cats there.

having the throttleman of a victory team class one boat help out isnt bad is it. i always remember his quote on sky sports when he had a hairy moment in victory 1 and he said "my moto is: when in doubt, flat out" - brilliant

good luck for the test, hope it goes well, those 2.5 280 motors are something else.. and you have 2 of them!!

First 5 mins - Hairy ..Gringo scared the c*** out of me as he is one confident mother!

After me legs finished shaking we got it more and more together. Awesome is my best comment to describe my first drive - we had great acceleration and only one or two hairy moments.

Driving a Honda boat in total control is one thing - someon else having power control is another!

In speed terms John we we carried a heavy fuel weight and the sea was a little choppy, warm air and windy

(He stripes JM? - They're "go faster stripes" of course!!!!

We have TV camera footage but like the dickhead I am I forgot to connect the audio - which is probably a good thing :-_

Hi Mate,
nothing very special for the little updates on the xcat.tv site (diary) a Blackberry sent to Youtube (as it all is) and for the onboards I have the Dreamteam rig of:

1. Peli case - well it was Honda 225!
2. One old sony handicam with mini DV tape
3.One lipstick with a double ball mounting. Really good quality
Then the SVG cable is connected to the Stilo coms for audio which the DS Neptune boys did - a 12v for camera and cam

So 3 wires as we run the camera off a battery to save power.
I am still away from home but when we race I'll take the PC and video editing with me and be able to upload soon after each race...

Rich, now you know how i felt racing with mark, he is a confident dude and knows his stuff, however i can see that alike me your grey overalls will on more than one occasion end up with brown patches on the arse end !!!
Oh and racing with Gringo M will cause you premature hair loss too, good luck.

That's why I ordered a new set of brown adrenalin ones!

He is a great race partner. We lived, slept, ate and breathed together over there and we get on really well even after times get strained which has to be a good thing as we take on this challenge.
