Just received my MBY in the post, over here. Congratulations on the report about your June run. Looked great. It´s really good to see the now "Gin Palace" dominated MBY doing an article about some real boating for a change.
How can anybody feel guilty about using mineraloils in such an effective and manner. Smiles and stories per liter, a poker run is way ahead of flight to Ibiza or a trip to the bay in the Feretti on the following pages (33 Kn, 100 gph)

Grunt...

Am new to this site and fairly new to boating on the sea (the Thames gets a bit samey after a few years) ...love the idea of this Poker Run in June...especially the talking bollox...I notice that you all have fast, big grunty boats....is this actually a race?...or can I bumble along at the back in my 20ft bowrider with only a pink and fluffy 4.3 mercury?...

Should be able to confirm today, once we've spoken to Andy at the Folly.

We need a decent turnout for this, so please make the effort if you can.

Motorboat & Yachting are interested in coming along and doing an article, which will be excellent, so we really do need to put on a great event.

Poker run will be on Saturday, with lunch at the Folly (hopefully) and the evening bash at Drivers Wharf, Music, Videos, Hog roast, loads of talking bollox etc.

If the weather is kind that weekend, the intension is to have a run round the Island on the sunday. Hopefully get some good video footage and stills of everybody and have a posting frenzy the following week.

More details to follow once we've confirmed.

There's something to suit everyone - 1 guy does it on his PWC!
If your boat is fairly reliable you'll get to more of the finish marks than some boats. And no, it's really not a race, you go as fast, or as slow, as you feel comfortable with.

You're right, the devil IS in the detail.
Sadly your entry is a bit late for the June 24th 2006 poker run.

You could however put a note in your diary for the 23rd June 2007.

Motor Boat & Yachting 'Aces High'

Well, I've been having a bit of a scanning frenzy tonight following a question from TD about the MB&Y article on the 06 Drivers Poker run, so here it is.

www.boatmad.com/poker/06poker.run.pdf

BTW, the MB&Y publication is a little bit bigger than A4, so couldn't get every bit of every page in, but it'll have to do.

And of course there's the video.
