Round the Island record...

In the next few weeks I will be doing an 'Around the Isle of Wight' record attempt.

Part of the fun will be to try raise money for the RNLI.

What I am after is people to sponsor me for each Mph ( or part of ) that I beat the record by. The current record is 69 mph, and we guestimate we can do it in an average speed of 73mph, with a theoretical best speed of 75mph, but that is very unlikely....

What we will do is double the money raised, and donate it to the RNLI.

So if you are interested, please post your comments and sponsorship here..

Is the record not held by the Chris Parson fella in the class 1 boat, thought it was quicker than 69mph? Guess those big boats look deceptive

As soon as the date is confirmed I will let everyone know....

( although bassed on the last attempt, just lookout for a storm force forecast, and that will be the day I have chosen )

BUMP!

Just a reminder - I will be attempting the record as part of the Round the Island race on Friday.

Ana and I will match the raised money from sponsorship, and donate it to the RNLI.

I thought this race I would save everyone the time and effort, and protest myself. ( yes, I have tried before - to take the piss - but they would not accept my protest... )

I believe that the requirement to actually pay the protest fee first will prevent an actual protest.( and not the usual hold the protest investigation first and only pay the fee only if something is found (as used by ORDA))

And given that I have the only entered V24 that actually complies with the UIM rules as published makes a protest irrelevant actually

Rupert and I will do £5 each (that works out as £10) because we are lowly students.....Look forward to seeing you all on Friday. Rupert and I are catching an 8am 'megatrain' from Waterloo and hoping that we make it in time. I expect that we will.

Good luck tricky - weather forecast is looking good (better for Saturday and Sunday).

Amanda
