Season End Boaters Party
Right you Orrible lot.
Weather & various other things have made this a pretty quiet season for the pleasure boater in our area. Feels like very little has happened, and plenty of boats haven't even seen the salty stuff (mine included).
This means all the usual 'talking bollox', boasting, and general boating banter enjoyed by most of us has been confined to race events, and they've been few & far between.
So how do we unload all that verbal crap and chew the fat before season end?...
PARTY!
Hog Roast party at Drivers Wharf, simple format, bring your own Booze/Cream Soda (no alc licence needed by DW that way) BBQ hot n ready for those who wanna bring a steak or similar to chuck on rather than chomping Pig. Bit of music, lorra talking bollox and poking fun at Chaos.....sounds like the perfect evening. Gills bought a new 'pole' that'll be set centre stage in the hangar, so she'll be doing the mens entertainment.
Could even make it a trade/swap meet too, fill ya car boot with boat shit you wanna flog and see if anyone wants it, if you're like me, you'll likely go home with more crap that you took! but thats part of the fun.
Saturday October 22nd is the day, so who fancies a few beers & a lot of bollox??
Could start early PM and if the weather's nice, you could even get ya boat wet (heaven forbid)

Event Details
Details have now been finalised for this event:
DATE – Saturday 22 October 2011
MEET at Drivers around mid-day to join the cruise
CRUISE will be to Gunwharf Quays (to minimise risk of disruption due to weather conditions). We are trying to arrange a deal on mooring. There will be a quiz/scavenger hunt when you get there.
LAUNCHING is free to current club members, and will be charged at £30 plus VAT for anyone else wishing to take part
HOG ROAST commences around 4pm and is free to current club members. Everyone else welcome – cost is £5 per head and £3 for children. Bring your own drinks, deserts etc.....
There will be a quiz (or two) and plenty of other entertainment – some of which needs your input – please see below. There will be prizes!!
You are also invited to bring along any boat jumble you wish to offer for sale and get this out of the way before tucking into the hog!!
The objective is to have a simple and fun social event with the minimum of fuss and at low cost – so nothing fancy, but the more people that come along the better it will be.
PLEASE NOTIFY NUMBERS TO ME BY 8 OCT – we need to know how many we are catering for with the hog roast!
We will have membership application forms available for 2012, and will also be discussing our first big event for next year which is to be a RAFT RACE on APRIL FOOLS DAY (Sunday 1 April 2012). Rules are being drafted for this already and we will elect an organising committee on 22nd to finalise these in plenty of time to allow for designing, building and testing of rafts through the winter!!
ENTERTAINMENT/QUIZZES NEEDING INPUT:
1. We have a POKER RUN trophy that still needs to be awarded this year for something ...... please bring along footage and/or photos / entertaining descriptions of any highly amusing racing or boating incidents from the recent past involving club members or people attending the Hog Roast. We will then put these to the vote and award the trophy to the most entertaining or outrageous incident.
2. Please send me (by email or by mail c/o Drivers Dry Berthing) a picture of your very first boat, or other early evidence of petrol headed tendencies!! Also, please send with this a picture of yourself from around the same time. This is for a quiz to match the boats or other ‘vehicles’ to the people!!
3. Jon Fuller will set up a video screen and run race footage – please bring along any dvds we can show
Please feel free to pass this message on to anyone who may be interested.
Look forward to seeing you on 22nd!
Rose Lores
club secretary
Drivers Powerboat Club
