Smögen Poker Run 2014

Last weekend we had a fantastic time in Smögen (Swedish west coast) during SPR2014. First time for this event, and a massive 52 boats at a fantastic venue made this a very, very pleasant weekend. The guys have made a nice video summing up the event:

The Nor Tech flew out from start at 140 knots +, but he chickened out when the first waves hit. A lot of nice boats, although we were not quite used to the poker run aspect of no racing - boys will be boys.

52 boats? Can't get that for a race which proves it's the way to go! The "very very pleasant weekend" says it all. Love the chopper shots, we will have to have that next time, great film.

Have to agree with you, Mike. Managing to round up 52 boats the first time round is amazing. Smögen is perhaps the best party place along the scandinavian coasts, so I think this also benefits the event. No licenses, no unnecessary rules, and a lot of swedish girls can't hurt, either. But it must be said that it is in no way comparable to an out and out race - nothing compares to donning a helmet and going for it.

By the way, a short vid from onboard the Nor Tech before his balls ran out:

A couple of weeks back this fantastic event was held for the second time. 80 boats (!!), 4+ meter waves and the splendid swedish coastline made this a very, very cool event. There are plenty of photos on their facebookpage - check https://www.facebook.com/pages/Sm%C3...796?fref=photo . And check out the onboard footage from the Cigarette 39 - they started last on one of the toughest legs, and came first across the line
