Fantastic Day
What a great time :-)
Loved the legs from Cowes to Bembridge and Bembridge to Browndown :-)
We were on fire!!!!!! Every Wave the boat was fully airborne and every landing we just had the nose up high enough not to stuff the wave in front.......just
We spent a few seconds on our side and I ducked behind the dash as I thought we were going over, but the boat came good and landed back on her arse :-)
Totally Brilliant fun :-)

I think its safe to say that was an unforgetable day. you had to be in it to understand the buzz. What a fleet!

I wish my boat had been ready for the Poker Run (it will be for CTC), it looks like you all had some amazing fun!
It seems from the feed back that a lot of you would be up for racing at Cowes, but due to the expense of the International Marathon licence it has put you off. I agree, it seems crazy to have to buy/renew a licence for nearly £500, and it also seems mad that some of you who have sea water in your veins cant get a licence because of the qualifying criteria when you can go to Belgium with a CV and get a UIM International licence for 200 euros!
I am going to have a chat with the RYA to see what can be done to get boats on the water for this year as the £60 reduction they are offering is not enough.

£500 and the rest, don't forget you're medical and all you're other quals you need to update, I wouldn't bother talking to the RYA, let the absence of your boats at the events do your talking for you, this event was very well done and looks like the way forward, I'll definitely be doing some of these once I've got my toy put together, all of the fun and none of the bollox, what could be better, well done lads, cheers for the pics Ben.

Cowes Poole Cowes
I know the excuse the Cowes Poole Cowes has been cancelled is the Bournemouth Airshow.
I fail to see why an alternative route hasn't been made to cater for the smaller boats, the last time the race was run there was plenty of entry's!
I did safety for CTC last year, as I am this year and there was a Very low turn out of boats. I forget but I think 9 boats actually run.
Anyway days out like yesterday, just go to show how much fun we can have without expensive licences!
After nearly 10 years of racing, I've still yet to work out what the licence money went on, especially the a International ones.

The tragedy is Dorian that we had at least 6 boats in the 31 strong fleet that could take part at Cowes and and actually don't want to. I now know what these reasons are but I don't know how to overcome them for racing. The situation is that the guys actually just want to come out and have a great time with their wives and families on board (you know how popular this type of event is in America) and run their boats with other like minded people. That's not a problem for us but certainly a problem for Powerboat Racing. Also, yesterday just cost most boats around £200 at max, plus fuel. Add up what a race can cost and that's the beginning of the problem.
So, we had a great fleet, the lads really enjoyed themselves on the long runs, the sun came out, everyone got sun burnt and more important wives and girl friends were happy and smiling. Job done!
ML.

Yep, cracking day. The run to the first card boat was great, felt like we were flying along (big guns) although felt sorry for burtys dad sat in the back. Shame we didnt do the whole course but still a great day (the trawl from drivers to Southampton water seemed to take for ever though). Good to see such a wide range of boats on the water and stopping at cowes for lunch was fun.
I imagine theres quite a bit of maintenance going on today though as some patches of water were boat breakers.
Well done to all the organisers, really good day.

Which boat was everyone's favourite ?
I would say either the re-liveried Hustler or the PPG rib.

Cowes Poole Cowes was never a goer this year as it would have been difficult to get permission to start two races in the Solent off Cowes.
We as a team have worked hard to get the start of the C-t-c from the middle of nowhere, to just off Cowes, which is a major step forward and will boost the spectating opportunities.
We are trying to rebuild racing in the Solent, and there is a lot of red tape and risk.
Unfortunately racing around the Island is a no at the moment as we need to get QHM Portsmouth on side before we can do anything yet.
Watch this space...

my boat wasnt ready in time, so I just stood on the quay and watched you all have fun. I thought the price was very reasonable, and the turn out was a bigger mix than the last one I did. All in all, it looked perfect. Well Done Mike and co.
