By the way, Powerboat Legend Johnny Caulcutt has just joined us and has sent his Founding Members Fee and so has RB08 competitor (& Pirate) Francis Whitely!

Update: The Pirates meeting is going ahead tonight with - by the sound of it - some 30 members coming. Should be a great night.

Just had confirmed that we now have 7 paid Founding Members of the PRA who are: Vee Ganjavian, Mike Lloyd, David Graham-Smith, Johnny Caulcutt, Francis Whitley, Graham Todd and Brian Pelham.

Nothing changes - DGS and I (with others) started the Power Cruiser Racing Association 33 years ago and here we are doing it all again but this time it's not racing but Poker Rallies!!

£100 James and I will let you know where to send it when I reply to your PM later today. Your payment will make it 9 Founding members. Details later.

Great meeting last night with 26 (including me) turning up at a Pub in the middle of nowhere (have you ever heard of Upper Farringdon?) and starting the meeting - details later but basically there will be three Rallies next year with the first one already planned in basic form in late April - early May. Four more members turned up later delayed by the huge traffic problems around the M25 and A3 last night. Great food supplied by the Rose & Crown which was appreciated.
The Association has now been formed according to Club rules and we even have a Committee headed up by Brian Pelham. Brian is now in overall charge and has a Treasurer and three other committee members all of whom will be named later on the PRA web site but I see one has already posted!!
Vee Ganjavian and myself are Founding Members and will support the PRA with full enthusiasm for as long as it runs, which hopefully should be for a considerable period.
The PRA is now stable financially and will only get stronger.
All I can say is that the enthusiasm shown by all the guys and girls who were there last night was and is very infectious and it's great to be a part of that. Very refreshing in fact.
Poker Rallies are the way to have fun in our sport, no doubt about that.

I have been asked to post that the first POKER RALLY meeting of the "Pirates of the Solent" in 2015 will be held on Saturday May 23rd with a lay day on the following day. The course will again cover all of the Solent from East to West and back again with an exciting new course and location. Lunch will be held in Yarmouth IOW. More details as they become available but the lunch venue will be a great surprise!

Full details of the day, times, which Marina and the full schedule, will be sent out to ALL teams within two weeks and will be listed on our web site. We now have some 56 teams listed!!

The second POKER RALLY will be held in mid July (at another location on the South Coast) and a third to be held in mid September back in the Solent.

So, who is coming to the first one in late May 2015? It's going to be a humdinger!

The first "Pirates of the Solent" Poker Rally of 2015 will take place out of Hamble Point Marina on the Hamble River on Saturday 23rd May with the lay day being the following day. Full details and schedule of the days fun will be sent to ALL teams registered this week!

The 58nm course (approx) is attached in rough form with the 1st leg being 13nm's. There are some long legs in there!

Just a last word from me. The Powerboat Rally Association is now becoming a fully fledged organisation owned by you it's members with a full organising committee headed up by Brian Pelham. They are a great team, being all founder members, and have got together to ensure that everyone who has a boat that is suitable for taking part in these Poker Rallies have a lot of fun - as we did this year.

It would be great if next year we could beat this years total number of boats (32) taking part. Watching the fleet coming down Southampton Water behind us was a magnificent sight. Wouldn't forty boats be a sight to see.

My job? To lay on good weather and that's it!!
