Just to throw a spanner in, Rowgscratcher reckons there a free function room at a pub in Woolston (by the Itchen toll bridge)

Dunno how big it is, or if you need to 'tool up' before entering, but it must be worth a look.

Venue details?

Calling Matt & Rowgscratcher!!!

Any chance you could either find out the availablity of the function rooms you suggested or let me have the names of the places and I'll give them a ring? We might be lucky and squeeze in before Christmas but I suspect most places will already be booked so probably looking after Christmas.

Also, anyone who fancies coming along for a night of videos, booze and grub, post here please!

Rowg, do you mean this company? They are a pub training company???? Do they hire a venue too?

I'll 'phone them tomorrow.

Right I've 'phoned the places suggested by Matt & Rowg.

Both have function room available at a cost!

Old Courthouse, Cove

Available Friday 3rd December, Sat 8th Jan (or later)
Available 'til 11.00 or 12.00 midnight (at extra cost)
Has video & big screen
Can cater (£5, £7, £11, £15 per head) or can bring own food
Cost of room £85 (extra £15 'til midnight)

Court Jester, Southampton

Available Friday 3rd December, most dates after New Year
Available 'til 11.00 or midnight if there are enough people spending money!
No AV facilities - would need to provide ourselves
Can cater (£5 per head finger buffet - no rude remarks!)
Cost of room £60

Alternatively, we all pile into either Rowg's cabin or Matt's sitting room!

Whaddya reckon?

I don't suppose you asked how big the rooms were?

AV isn't a problem, as long as there's room to set it up, and get the folk in the room, hence my question.

I personally reckon using a pub's event room, with their catering will be better, and I'm sure no one would mind the small fee, considering the aggro it will save, then we can just walk away from it (the mess)

Courthouse has a room big enough for 85, Jester's room is big enough for 100. Do you want me to 'phone & get measurements??!!

Na, that sounds fine on both counts.

So where would be the prefered location, Cove seems more central, but of course it depends on who's gonna come, to decide just what 'central' means.

How bout a poll?
