The phantom 16 at the rear which has C53 was originally raced by splitpin and myself haven't seen the old girl for years. She looks to be in a pretty bad state, the last iIheard about her was that she had been dold to the guy who was sponsoring Dixons Scientific / Emirates and they were going to take the tandem deck off and put a open deck on her and race OCR.

But then again we do not know how old that picture is.

No Jon it was originally B53 1.3L (pre that B106 and pre that B30 when Dave Fromow owned it) When they purchased it for OCR it was racing 1.3L again so was rebadged C53.

I have spoken to Splitpin earlier and he seems to remember that the deck was removed and in the pic he thinks they kept the old deck and this is resting on top of the open deck that replaced it.

If memory serves me correct, B87 was 21, driven firstly by Martin Bull and then by Stewart Attlee.

Don't forget OCR letters work backwards - "A" was 2 litre "B" 1.8 litre and "C" 1.3 litre

Yes, I know that, but it's a tandem deck boat, and I thought they weren't alowed in OCR.

Looking again at the pic and specifically at the bow, I don't think the deck is attached to the hull, but I can't imagine the normal deck is under it, because there's no way the tandem deck would sit so flush on the hull with with a full width screen & combing under it, it would be sitting much higher.

anyway, ho hum.

Good point - and OCR don't require foredeck race numbers either, although it wouldn't have been long enough would it?

I think at the time the Emirates team were buying anything that would float. They probably were changing the deck to conform to OCR rules, to run that P16 together with the other 3 they already had in 1.3ltr. They also had an Argo 17 in 1.3ltr, an Argo 21 in 1.8ltr and a P20, a P19 and Tintorera 20 in 2ltr. The team folded in 2002.
