200+ merc powerhead needed!

Hi everyone,

seeing as the xr2 i just bought turns out to be knackered, i'm looking for a new powerhead to put on...

I can get another xr2 one from over here, but would like to go up to a 2.4 or 2.5... so i'm looking about to see what my options are!
I'm in Guernsey, so i can collect from anywhere.

Anyone got anything that fits the bill?

Thanks

James

Use a 2.0 Ltr XR2
Cheap as chips & you can break your old motor for bits as & when

Hi Burty, i wanted to see what else was out there... I'm just worried about buying one that isn't currently running given my previous problems. Being in guernsey it's not cheap for me to come across to test things...
If i were to buy yours would you possibly be able to get it to portsmouth?
PM me again if you like...

Thanks

James

yeah i guess that wouldn't be a problem. i know its difficult but a decent running 260 will be in the region of 2500 to 3k

Yeah i'm starting to see you're right there! I had expected to be able to get one for less than that.
I'll PM you about yours...

Thanks

Also thanks for the suggestions further up BluFin...
I was going to go down the XR2 route... the powerhead from lovely jubbly bubbly which broke the speed record a few years ago is sat next to my boat in the garage. Trouble is they're not exactly known for reliability and have to really be on their limit to make 200hp. Ideally i need at least 200, so i fugured it'd probably be a better bet to go with a 2.5 if i can find one for the right price!

Not to mention you can never have enough power!!

Cheers

Thanks for the offers A30, i need something complete really... and i couldn't handle the rebuilds for the F1, it's a nightmare getting anything worked on over here!
I'm hoping to find a 2.5 really, as i wouldn't have to push that so much to get over 200hp, whereas a 2ltr around these figures is going to be at it's limits i'd imagine...
It's looking like burty's 2.5 is going to be my best option... admittedly not complete, but within my abilities to sort out!

Thanks

i have seen it and looks good, i nearly bought it but liked the idea of 325hp rather than 260!

Yeah i have to admit, that does appeal to me too! I just have to take a step back sometimes and attempt to be sensible!
I think burty's is going to be the one i go for, i spoke to the owner last night and he seems a really good honest guy... What would life be without risks eh!
