600xs?!
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=280301508060
Spotted this on ebay earlier today. Is it a sequel 600XS?
I imagine the price is going to go skyward after looking through here at some that have been up for sale...

pretty sure it was the first one out of the mold.
think it sold originally for 4k on the trailer (no interior or engine)
it says in the add he will let it go for 1750 but not on trailer

I think what he means is 'the trailer is not included but i will sell the trailer for an extra £1750'.
Could be a bargain for just the hull if it stays at a low price, there's no reserve! Any idea why this keeps coming up for sale so much though?

Is first out of the mold a bad thing?
I know my parents say stuff about learning from mistakes...
Is it a recommended stay away then?!?

I take it this is the same boat?
Carl, do you know the boat? Looking at the pictures it doesn't look as though its been fitted out ever. Would be interesting to know what its been doing for the past 2 years?!
So is the first boat out the mold a bad thing?

Yep,
I dont know Gav or had any dealings with him other than buying a model hull, but have read and heard some of the ( horror stories)
The floor in my ex Burtys P20 is still holding strong with no signs of delaminating or splitting, most here know Rob drove the boat to the max all the time and dont think i'm too shy myself,
Could it be that some of the work from Gav (quality) could have been down to his no control of money and only laminating when he bought materials,
As we know laminating needs to be controlled as far as timing of layers coats etc allowing too long for the glass resin going off allowing the polymers to be in the final staging of crosslinking will not allow further coats to chemical bond so on and so on,
I think we covered this in a thread a while ago,
But as above for these reasons some of his work has been questionable i believe,
Hit or a miss is the best answer here i suggest.

I dont know how many 600's were built but 4 I know of
Yellow one went to Iceland & had to be rebuilt
Gavs Black one went to Holland & has had some transom issues
Mr Robs white one - no issues seems fine
and the one for sale above.
The base design is good & well proven both down under & by Shetland here in the UK there are some of those in circulation

Maybe Mr Rob just drives his like a girl?
Only jokin! Seems worrying that this one has done the rounds so much though and was made at the same kinda time as the bad ones was it not?
