70's Mercury Race engines

Anyone out there know of any 650 or 700 XS mercury outboards going for sensible money, currently running one on the back of a one of Bristol/ Bluefin that used to do the 70's race circuit and would like a spare just in case. Could also do with any other bits or props for one.

Sorry can't help with the motors but would love to see a pic of the Bristol/Blufin with 650xs. Remember those from back in the day and always
thought it was a good combination. Don't think I ever saw a 700 on a mono, they were normally on the catamarans of the day, SE or OE class if I remember correctly.

John Pierce on the Blufin sponsored by Philishave ran a 700 and it gave the 70 Yams a run for their money when they first came out!!!

The 700X was a full race engine only run on OE class boats .
650XS was run on SE class with P/T and also NF class (monohull)
with no P/T went well in NF class and gave all the johnson stingers
a run for there money.

700xs

there are now THREE 650xs/700 xs running at Exmouth- that is when they can be persuaded to run, ran my 700 on the back of a one off design for several years (slightly detuned but would still hit 65mph) until hull gave trouble, just going back on water this year when can get a decent spark. Usually faster than the stingers others run (and noisier) unless really bumpy
