I'm allways interested to test new taskas / ideas. Here is my newest one.
I have started a hobby joint venture with an electronic HiFi expert who has more than 30 years of experience in Bang & Olufsen repair. Now he is out of job and has time.....He has especially a lot of experience on elder B&O 1900 series. This is a very flat HiFi stereo receiver which could be set horizontal on a flat table or fixed vertical onto a wall. This type produces an outstanding sound with 2 x 30 Watts sinus power.
How we have worked (and maybe: if it would make sense we'll do that one or 2 times more....)
Step 1:
we disassembled the complete receiver, all failed or suspect parts incl. all lamps have been changed. After this we assembled it again and performed a long lasting test run.
Step 2:
we disassembled the aluminium coverages and then a professional jewel burnisher (with a lot of free time also)polished them to a mirror finish (one unit), the other receiver has been anodized black, after this we applied the new operation lettering with a special film on it.
Step 3:
we disassembled the veneered side and front covers and removed the mostly damaged veneer.
Then we applied black color (car paint) or applied new veneer (type is walnut as I suppose), after this a clear high gloss laquer has been applied (passenger car laquer).
Step 4:
Assembled again and performed the EOL test.
