Yes, because the shaft it had does not work, it was to long and back in the day's Nico had a XR2 SS(15") on it.
Now it runs 80+mph

Engine is stock just like it come frome the factory
We use it also for fun skien on low speed en this is now probleme whit it zo if its tuned you can not do tis thinks

What prop pitch and what ratio and how many rpm,s are you doing with this set up now ?

I had a 200 EFI mercury on that boat ,and could barely come over 70 mph with every prop that I tried ....I had the engine on a 30 mm thick alu plate to get that lower unit high enough ,so the midsection would not drag thru the water in the tunnel

Sorry but I can't anser tis becaus it is Dade boat.
But I have seen whit my one 2 eye's that it runs whit now problem 130kmh on the GPS.
And that anly Chopper props type work on this set-up

If its still the promax 225 that came with that boat (in 20 inch ) the engine was bought new by my cousin, thought it was 1997

You should turn a 26 pitch chopper @ 6800+ to reach 81+ mph (130 km/u) with 1,87:1

I used a 24 chopper large diameter ,and found also that was the best wheel for that boat .

I even tried a 300 hp 3,4 L 20 inch mercury on that boat ,but that engine was so heavy that the boat almost sunk... didn,t have any numbers ,but thought speed was not faster than with the 200 EFI

The shaft could be same when we bay it but the engine him zelf is from 2002.
And yes whit the 20" it runs 115kmp whit skier.
So I think you set up was wrong than.
Last year driven in Manage on the GPS.
Nico him self told if you but a good engine on it, you will be the fastest boat at the race
