Is the pressure not set by the regulator, or am I missing something?

Yes it is but I don't know what the actual psi is of the pump, so it would have to be higher than 39 I guess!
Have you got one?

Your local Motor factor or Bosch dealer from memory I think it was a Vauxhall Cavalier or similar and around 90 PSI.

All fuel injection pumps will go upto around 6 bar pressure. i.e. 90psi. The actual psi of the pump doesn't really mean anything since if there is no resistance on the fuel leaving the pump there will be no pressure, hence the purpose of the fuel pressure regulator. That allows you to set the pressure (depending on type) to whatever you need...

Alan, I'd only ever run/recommend a Bosch 044 pump, pick them up for around £140
Make sure you run a good pre pump filter!!

Fuel pump,
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/100-BOSCH-...item485924be55

You will need the banjo's as well as a pre pump filter, I've run one of these for a few years without problem.

As for regulators, either get an adjustable, put a wanted for a second hand one, or buy new from mercury.
