buoyancy bags

What is the best thing to use for buoyancy bags(or whatever they are called) something that can be stuck up the bow.
Are there purpose made ones?.

You can use the Bags as you suggest - truck inner tubes or solid, people use both. I use a Bouyancy bag as I find it easier to fit then inflate. Can be pricy though- I crawl ebay & get 2nd hand ones when they come up, get them a fraction of the new cost. Other thing is the inflatable dingy launch rollers they are a lot cheaper than a bag.

2nd Blufin's comments - I bought some new off ebay, pricey, but wanted the 100l+ ones.

Inflatable bags or blocks of foam that you fit inside the boat. So that should the boat get holed or swamped by a wave it will not completely sink. Consider them a life jacket for the boat.

my boat has two of the big excersise balls which are cheap and you can inflate them to fit the space available as their rubbery they don't puncture easily, they fit perfectly in the front of the Phantom, also get you fit if you want Nic

Mine were fitted loose in the centre section,I've just let the down and re inflate to each side ie behind driver and passenger foot board and they now fit tight in that space and inflate to 90% of their volume,Cheers Nic
PS they hadn't gone down in the 18 months I've had the boat

I'm obviously a buoyancy bag snob, don't think I fancy using 500 coke bottles.
