old plywood cats give nothing but grief, take some advice, be prepared to spend some coin and get a good boat

When I posted this, I was assuming you were refering the 'Simply the best' class II cat, (ex 'Fays One', as Roofer said he wanted to fit 'twin EFI's'

It doesn't need a turn to fall over, It barrell rolled right next to me, in a straight line, flat out at LA about 4 years back.

Cliff rolled it about 4 years ago cos the dopy git didn't check his hydraulic steering, as he was going round so every turn after a hose had split it pumped out oil untill it ran out down the straight. He reconed he was doing 85-86 mph. I rolled it on a righthand turn having missed the turn buoy off Rustington not going as quick but still a kin interesting experiance. If any one needs a wood boat builder I have one handy at the back of the work shop, put both sides back on tub humping after Cliffs roll and you would not know the difference. Probably get it back on the water next year if I get the time, it is a fast boat----in a straight line and very good in the rough, buildt for longer offshore racing and not the shorter courses of today.

Im after one without a canopy and something that will take 2 modified efi's, no disrespect but i dont think an old wood cat will do.

There should be a couple of old 25 Cougar glassfibre cats lying around.

I believe Adam's brother had one 'Ambrow Trailers' that ran in 4 ltr and there was another known as 'Tropic Heat' or something like that which was owned by Mark Shepherd and powered by 2.4s.

Maybe someone knows where they are.

Adams brothers boat "Ambrow Tailers" had a bad stuff at one of the Bournemouth races in 1991 and lost its front end. I know he had it rebuilt but I seem to remember that after that he did not race it again, or if he did not that often after that.

The day of that race was a day of attrician I remember splitpin and myself going out to race and throwing the bush in our prop and unable to get on the plane so we had to limp back to RMYC, then act as recovery for the boats that fell foul to the rough seas that day.

Phantomfanny came flying in taking on water due to their bow tank being rupture and them forgetting to shut the valve. Adams brother Scott's boat came back being towed by a trawler it took a dozen of us to get it on to the trailer then 3 support vehicles to pull it up the slip as it was so full of water. I also seem to remember Mike Sheppard sustaining some damage to "which way know ?" as well.

I have a suspicion that the declared winner that day might have been Pennpromo.

Roofer i dont think you should get a boat with two engines, you keep blowing the engine up on your phantom, no wonder hutchy goes on holiday a lot !!!!!!!!!!
