Wasn't the 20 about 20ft 8 inches, We used to race a Ring 20 and club rules stated the max length was 20ft. As the Phantom 20 was actually called a 6.0 meter they nearly got us banned. It is maybe even the same boat as ours was black, orange, Mike put a new nose on it when we shortened it a foot by hooking into the dock wall in Newcastle about 86/87.

FYI, the brochure stated the length as 20'9" as intended. But the hull was stretched as far as I thought I could really away without people feeling that the boat was really cut down 21. which it was not.

Y'see Jon there are some real pedants out there and it will not be the first time that a decision made on instinct has been cross examined at length by one such aforementioned pedant.

The last one was German !

Now mein Kapitan,

You vill name der famous Englander zat had a 20 Vooter built speciale fur him based on the series unter discuzzion.
Ve dont vont to beat der answer out of you, "Little Roly Poly Ginger Englander".

(Aah so, I feel der yumor iz coming back to me)

OK the answers .....

Ring 20 series B Mk1 (Mk2 had step removed)
Production run late '82 to '85
1 Step / and a Notched transom
20'10" LOA

Peter Ash won Class 3c (2 ltr) National championship in 1983

Famous Owner was Barry Sheene . Boat colours light blue and dark blue " My Doreen"

The 20B Mk1 is the fastest of all the 20 series , with a 2T motor this makes a good balance and a very quick rig.

If the boat is sound then its worth saving and certainly not expensive.

Mike

Kinda wish i had spent a bit more time looking round it now

although it generally seemed in pretty good nick there was a couple of very bad repairs that made it a no-go for me ...
