By the way would the standard internals from a merc box fit into the cle casing?

dont know about casing but internals change over and shim up was about 200 i think.......

Internals will only fit if your gearbox doesn't have a preload pin on the top of the shaft

Drop the box, if there is a sprung loaded pin on the top of the shaft, then yes
