CLE Gearbox Flushing

Where can I get a decent flushing attachment to fit a two hole CLE? You know the sort of thing: a soft plastic cup over the point of the gearbox secured with a bungee to which you can attach the hose. Bob's Machine Shop say theirs only fit their own nose cones and I don't like the look of the Land and Sea one. I might be being fussy but what do other people use and where did they come from?

Check your local Merc dealer the can order one for you , they are not sheap i paid 60euro here in the Netherlands !

Make one with a couple of bits of plasticy pipe (8mm O/D I think) and some fitting thingy. Burty or someone will explain better than me as they know the proper names for all that stuff

Its what i have and it works alot better than those cup things.

It is a lot cheaper thats for sure , but i have a original one for my sportmaster drive on the 300XS now and that works a lot better .
I also had a home made fluching device for my 2 hole cle but the pipe's would comme out from time to time and you dont want that reving on high rpm's .

You shouldnt rev any more than 1500rpm on a flushet anyway.

I have a flushing cone and its no where near as good as the 'flushing do-dad' that burty made! I need to make one myself.

Yes they work better for me to, and alot cheaper to boot!!. Used them only the other day on me 300.

When I connected it to Gavs once and tuned the tap on the water was rushing out of the side of the water plates before the engine was running so you know the water is getting to where it should be before you even start the motor.

I was once told water comming out at the side is not good because the engine could get air during flight , is this true or a joke ?
But what you discribed about Gav's engine is right i took care off that

I made that dude and it was ace!!!!
Works much better than anything else and the pipes never came out for me.
you shouldnt rev at all when flushing as hose pipe pressure aint no where near enough to cool the motor at high rpm

2 little bits of flexible tube , both the same length, a y piece and some hose pipe connected to the other end.

Seriously though. You need 2 pieces of 8mm speed fit pipeapprox 300mm long, a 10mm to twin 8mm Y piece then force your bit of hose pipe onto the 10mm end of the Y piece, lovely jublee clip and jobs a good un

i have a gen merc one i bought when i had my xr2. dont think ill be using it again, they arnt cheap but are good quailty. pm me if your interested

anyone got any pics of their DIY handy work.

ive only got an old pair of standard muffs but have now got a cle and hence no good. I was gonna flush by submersing the leg but would prefer to fashion something that will do the job!!
