Sod that i wonder if its to do with the compression mine shows 160 on all 6 bores fort that was a bit high!

Thats to scary to think about outboards seem to be so unrealible.

Cant hutchy sort anything out for you?

are you sure its 160? mine was around 135 untill i fitted high compression heads then it went to 150.

if its 160 i think you need to run on avgas.

yes well sure cos i done a compression check yesterday they were all just under 160. Cos the engine started missing so i did compression and took the odd plugs out and fitted buhw-2 instead of buhw which looked well old. ive never had the engine flat out around 6k is my max and my fuel pressure is just under 40psi

im not sure i havent used it since it was missing and sumtimes run on all 6 i fort it was a plug breaking down so im going to give it another try at the weekend i also found a temp lead disconneted to the ecu so fort that might not help.

I wouldnt mind lowering the compression a bit might make the engine last a bit longer

I doubt that, the first thing you noticed was a miss, but that was probably caused by all the melted ali piston deposits accumulating on your plug tips, shorting them out.

it's a common early sign of piston melt down.

Sh*t Rooofer you did a better job of it than I did of mine. Ocean Racing has drop on powerheads available had mine from there they exchange your old motor too i.e. cash back off the new one.

PM me if you want his details - sorry to hear about the loss I know how it feels (expensive $)!

I meant my problems started with a missfire a few weeks ago, then it progressed from there untill engine blew.

maybe thats why it dealt to itself
we have found that once you start playing with these 2.5's then the reliability goes out the window, remember the drag engines go in a straight line for short periods of time.
