I have no idea what bouyant means, but John,s deck looks better, but personelly I don,t like the ducts that he used,I like the american drag race ducts more(like on a funny car)
It was a lot of work to make my friends deck,we have to cut the deck, and close a piece of transom to make the drive fit properly.
First time we didn,t come on plane with the #4 drive.
We had to bring another boat ,and with a 40 ft rope we pulled the P28 in plane by just holding the rope ,en release it when she planes.
It was just a little help that was needed.
Later we installed a spacer between the upper/lower
Thats the benefit of a # 4 drive.
With the spacer planing problems are gone.

that Mk4 drive looks like it has the smaller diameter shaft(MKIII size) that's unusual.
you can also get spacers for the Bravo.
by bouyancy' TD means my boat is sitting lower in the water, as it's very heavy at the stern with the diesel engines.

You have the #4 drive in small and big shaft.
earlier style has the smaller shaft, they tend to break in the rough
later mercruiser made a bigger shaft that is the same as a #5 or a #3a.
My friend ,s #4 has the small shaft,I wonder how you could see that on a picture?couse its not that big difference.

The big shaft looks pretty big dunnit, same spline I think as an Arneson ASD-8, nearly 2".
Foolish, Phantom 28 has a 7' beam (overall)

Have you seen the adapter that some company,s made for converting a small shaft to a big shaft?
They have an outer spline and an inner spline, that way you can use the big shaft props on a small shaft.
They sell these for $400.

That's interesting!
There's a race boat here (Velocity 30) with small shaft speedmasters, very odd, TRS, or similar upper, and they're having trouble getting suitable props. I sugested finding some old small shaft props that were useless, and turning the hubs down to create such an adaptor/bush, and either have it splined, or weld it into the large shaft prop, but these would make life a lot easier.

Is that Atlas mr Noisy? some time ago Andy J told me it was for sale.
They made a # 3 speedmaster to fit a TRS gimble housing,I,ve seen that before, what props do you need?
Count the splines, and what sort of hub ?long or short?I know a company in the U.S that has tons of small shaft propellors, for cheap prices.
LH and RH 3 blade and 4 blade, they don,t sell them anymore overthere he says.
I saw a #3 drive once with a chopper propellor on a 21 ft boat.
They said they took a #3 prop with a broken blade, and cut it down to the hub only ,and welded it in the chopper.
Just to provide bow lift, and a small diameter has less influence on a 21 ft boat.
