Yes but the drain is below the water line and more to the point also below the floor. you are only trusting a jubilee clip for that one too.

click the quote button at the bottom of the post you want to quote from.

I would have a through hull type pick up becase its alot neater and you don't have extra holes and pipes in your engine well.

as far as i know all bow tank drains are below the water line and i dont know of any problems with it in fact i dont know of any other way of doing it unless you rigged up some kind of pump. if you are really worried about it put 2 jubilee clips on

Burty, you're missing the point!

Whilst it's a bit hyperthetical, the point is, the pick up is under a certain amount of pressure when filling, this 'could' lead to the pipe/clips failing, admitedly, it's unlikely, but it could, the drain on the other hand, never has any pressure in it.

I think they do 2 versions of the 280, a race motor and a fishing motor, think they develop the same power but at different rpm's

its not so much a fishing motor its just the standard 2.5 280 hp

the race motor has heavy duty upper end cap berings and crank shaft with light weight connecting rods and pistons, solid engine mounts, heavy duty propshaft and internal components and light weight top bottem cowls heavy duty trim system also it doesnt come with a warranty

2.5 efi rpm=7500
2.5 efi race rpm=8000

I have the light weight carbon fiber cowl on my promax hents it says 2.5 on it not 225 promax

If you havent sorted out the dump yet just get a salmon all in one fill and dump type. If it leaks, which it shouldnt, just use your bildge pump. Wont be under as much pressure as you think because the hole in the pickup is smaller than the diameter of the tube that goes through the transom and thus the hose. You can then use normal fill on the top of the tank as a second vent.

260 has higher ports than the 280 but more meat in the exhuast chest. Its easier to work the exhuast chest than raise the ports so that makes the 260 more easily tunable unless you loads of money. 280 electronics limit you as they cant be remapped very easily and the coils dont recharge quick enought to allow over much 8500rpm.

Both 280 powerheads are the same mechanically its just the revilimiter thats different.

Ask Jonny he bought one recently. They do a cheap one and an expensive one. I have the cheap one and I think Captain Chaos does too. I guess Tony Davis got Chaos's for him so you could ask him too, mine came on the boat.

Through, its basically like a through hull pickup but it has a third position to allow it to dump too. That also means you have only one cable and can use a single standard control lever. Its your cheapest, neatest and easiest option if you can only overcome your fear of the jubilee clip failing. Just go OTT with clips and sealent when installing it
