With the italain love of raceboats, does anyone know of any websites where they sell their boats, thinking in particular of ex P1 boats.
Thanks

No I am not. Got to say I'm amazed by the marine industry.
You make enquiries, maybe get a quote if you are lucky - no one bothers to call, everyone contradicts everyone else. As soon as you mention you want to go racing everyone seems to close up. As if everything is the world's biggest secret.
It really is no wonder that numbers are struggling to increase.
Powerboating could be an awesome sport, with large numbers of participants, big audiences etc, has what people want to see, glamour, excitement, speed, some great characters and stories - but let down.
Just look at RB12 + Round Ireland - loads of whispers going round, but nothing formal broadcast. It really does not help the sport.
As with all sports there are the good guys, so thank you all who have offered help, joint ownership in boats etc but can't help but think that outsiders, who have a few quid to spend, and want to play, could be eased on the path to ownership more easily.
Rant over (desperation talking. Want to play - but so confused !)

May i thank the two boat builders/suppliers who have made contact today to offer assistance. It is greatfully received.
Pre September 2009, RB12 had over 100 expressions of interest in taking part with 36 of those owning suitable boats. Therefore 64 people possibly need boats. At say an average initial cost of £150,000 there is a potential cash injection into a struggling market of c. £10,000,000 this will lead to increased servicing demand, spare parts, repairs, storage, berths etc, and if anyone directly involved in the marine industry can see medium term, if you could run this every 4 years you would porobably save a number of British boatbuilders from going under. There is huge potential !!!!!
Please support those not familiar with marine speak, and encourage all to partake, after all with no competitors there are no events, as the Brass Monkey prooves.

Have you conisidered a season or 2 in a smaller class such as 3b or c to gain experience? From the looks of it you're looking to jump straight into a big offshore boat and go race, apologies if I've misread things.

The easy answer is no.
To get an endurance licence you must prove adequate experience, this can be in the form of suitable race time, or a suitable offshore qualification such as yachtmaster power - clearly day skipper would need to be upgraded (I'm not sure what the minimum is TBH)

The maths makes a lot of sense, but the reality is that a large percentage of those above do not have the money - certainly if I had got orders for 20% of the enquiries that I have received on the new boat the we would be busy for a while! The problem is you have to treat every single enquiry as the real thing!

Thats all a load of rubbish. You are living in fantasy land. Anyone with any sense can see that the real world is in the entry list for next years Round Britain and the number of boats that took part in 2008 Round Britain.

Just got a reply from my supplier in the States, I can buy a 250XS for under 10k sterling, but it is now only being built as a 20" sportsmaster r/h, with a leisure mid. If you want H/D mid, you have to buy a 300XS, and if you want a l/h box, you have to have it built at a cost of $1200.00 extra.
