Mercruiser Lightened and Balanced Flywheels

I now have a Mercruiser Flywheel. It was sent in error from the US.

New Mercury Mercruiser Quicksilver OEM Part # 283-859619T 3 FLYWHEEL

You can buy the flywheel as is for £125 & postage

Or I can lighten and balance for another £125 making £250 total & postage.

I can do an exchange for £150 & postage

Do you crack test after lightening, and what method do you use to balance them?

Hi I use a Marine propeller hanging static balancer. I then drill holes same as the manufacture to balance.

Other suppliers of "Lightened" props do not balance there flywheels. There are no balancing holes drilled on any of them.

They also don't remove that much weight. For example a simons motor sport flywheel for 200/225/250/300 optimax engines weighs 14.5lb.

I can make mine just over 11lb, At this weight you won't have engine stalling on tick over and trouble spinning big props.

If you want one made lighter, it's no problem.

No we don't crack test, we use the stock flywheel to lighten and there's still plenty of meat left on them. If you want one weighing sub 9lb then you might want to consider it.

I can lighten your own flywheel if you wish, takes 4/5 working days, plus postage time.
