Mercury alarm buzzer
Has anyone out there got an old Merc alarm buzzer for sale?
I have nearly completed the re-wiring of my Ring and found that someone in the past has replaced the alarm horn with a buzzer from RS components. There is no way it has enough "grunt" to be heard over a running engine (can hardly hear it in the peace and quiet!!)
I priced up a new one and its appalling expensive for something so simple.
If I can find a second hand unit I will fit that otherwise I will look for a suitable substitute
The part number for the horn is 68878A6 and the cover is 68879
Cheers
Dave

I found using a red dash warning light from demon tweaks work realy good wired instead or aswell as buzzer as if your having it its hard to hear buzzer until maybe is to late, red light will get eye straight away

Never heard a Merc buzzer when running flat out as blackbeard says light and buzzer is the way to go.
FWIW I wire in with 2 Buzzers (Car Horns) and 2 Hi intensity red lights.
I use the O'heat to activate it all through a relay and it also has a push to test facility as well so you know its functional.

Chris, Bluefin
Do you just wire the 12Volt warning light as a direct replacement for the horn? I had a look at the DT site and there is certainly plenty of options to choose from.
I assume if you are using the bulb/horn option you are just wiring them up in parallel?
Cheers
Dave

Thanks Chris, will look into that as soon as I can get a dry day and take the covers off again.

Should use a relay on these things. Those over heat sensors should not drive heavy loads on their own.

yes it's via a relay, once you go that route what you can add in is greatly increased.
