Watched that on DVD last night. Nice boat makes a very nice noise although not sure if they added that to the soundtrack or if it was the genuine sound...

Agreed. I did like it - but was also pretty disappointed at some of the key scenes they cut. The "rumour" is that the directors cut version on DVD will put a lot of extra material back in.

Not sure whether it's out in Blighty yet but this side of the pond the 'unrated' version with I think 7 mins extra footage is out. http://www.amazon.ca/Miami-Vice-Wide...?ie=UTF8&s=dvd Not seen either version yet so will probably buy this one.

The film was supposed to open with the boat race featured in the 'Nonpoint' music video in the 'extras' section of the DVD. Michael Mann decided to leave it out.
If you're really interested, a guy called Rick Bravo who posts on Miami-Vice.org is a cameraman who worked on the original telly series and the movie, and will spill the beans on anything you ask him about.
The film was crap, with no plot, no neat endings and muffled dialogue from two totally unconvincing characters, but they did have some nice boats!
That MTI Cat looked awesome, but the graphics on it were pants. 'Mojo' on a plain white hull. Woo! Bet they were up all night designing that.
The two 'Go-fast boats' that Crockett blew up looked smart too. Four Merc 250's on the transom. Ees Niice, yes?

Another tit-bit. The "go-fasts" were apaches, which were fairly recently sold on ebay. Feel a bit sorry for the new owner though, since they were built just to be blown up and looked like they were all chopped strand with no structures in.

I think one of the guys who bought one posts on MV.Org, or is it scream and fly? The story on the apaches (as I remember it) is that they were just unrigged hulls fitted with mock-up outboards wearing genuine Mercury cowlings.
There are some pics on the web somewhere too. They're not too badly damaged (Just cosmetic scorching, mostly) and were picked up for a song, so I guess as long as you can rig the boat for a reasonable price you've got a nice quick boat with a movie provenance for a good price. Nice little project for someone!

don't rent or sell as well as it should, could not find any redeeming features with this movie only the girls go.. ooo Collin bla bla, and guy's just don't see him as an action hero, as I said on another thread could not understand why they used a guy with an Irish accent to play the all American Sonny, dark moody sky's ye right, blue sparks from the Ferrari 430 exhaust...complete crap, 2 black boats with really loud engines looking very suspicious on an undercover operation, please give me a break an where the hell did they set out from on the MTI as it's Miami vice I assume Miami to go to Cuba, even if it was closer to key west they are taking the total pi.........sssss

I found the only way to enjoy it was to switch my brain off and just look at the scenery and the pretty toys! Much like 'Top Gun' and it's ilk.
I certainly wouldn't pay money to see it again, mind.
Agree on 'Crockett' though. What a totally unconvincing performance. Probably the worst bit of casting since Leonardo DiCaprio in 'Titanic' where he plays a worldly-wise Bohemian wandering artist despite looking about 12 years old and old enough to be the result of Kate Winslett's teenage pregnancy.
And Miami Vice: Why did they bloody mumble all the damn time???
'You can't negotiate with gravy'
'Hey Darlin'! Two Bacardi mojitos and a genitalia'

I thought that too, but here's what Rick (cameraman on the movie) says:
'"The Ferarri was not tampered with or modified to shoot the flames. That actually happened and was caught on the video. The flames are a by-product of driving the car hard. The flames are actually un-burnt fuel that is then re-ignited when the car is shifted. The flames were captured because the video realm is much more sensitive to light than film."
It was still crap though.

never got round to the extra's, maybe I should stick it on now and watch, all I will say is I just cant understand how a ferrari 430 with probably very sophisticated cats, more sensors than a space ship, in order to minimize any wasted fuel particles and maximize the burn. also fuel not burned would be inefficient and it would suffer even more at the pumps against rivel manufacturers, just my take

True, but it's also Italian, so how much of that actually works?
I'm not sitting through it all again. Life is too short! I just jump straight to the MTI Cat scene when the winter blues get to me too much.

Think you should snap that MTI cat up with your xmas money, you could then thrash it down the Thames on new years day...now that would be a sight

Need to sell a lot of drugs to raise that kind of cash!
Think there's much money to be made smuggling Sanatogen over the channel and selling cheap to the old folks in Eastbourne?
