The zenoah engine is a proper 2 stroke running at 30:1 petrol / racing oil, pull start, super reliable, not nitro that is a nightmare, start stop stall etc. You start these babies walk away, have a coffee and a chat with the mates, come back 30 mins later and they will still be idling over.
Decent cells are very expensive plus you will want a couple of sets maybe more. The charger required to charge them as a set aint cheap neither. For the price of all that you can buy a very nice nitro engine that will be alot more powerfull. It will however be alot less reliable.

Very good point! I found this site yesterday http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/
They also do Nitro aswel. They have a nitro engine on sale at the moment for $79.99 which it pretty cheap for a 1.2hp motor.
This is the only model boat shop I have found online that has good details on the products its listing and you can get all you need from there. I tink I might order myself one of those engines while the goings good!
Electric is really good and alot less hassle than nitro but as I said if you wanna go quick its not as cheap as people might think. One thing to bear in mind about nitro engines is you get what you pay for. Cheap engines may look good on paper but in reality they may not be as powerfull as the manufacturer claims (its easy to fudge power figures) and the main problem with the cheaper engines is they don't hold their tune as well. In other words you're constantly playing with the mixture to get them runing right and this can lead to them cutting out alot. Anoying when its in a car cus you have to walk over and get it, if its in a boat thats not quite as easy.

A decent electric outboard is about $200 which aint cheap. I would rather have a cheap nitro setup than a cheap electric set mostly because of run time.
