This has been kicking around for the last few years looking to be sold, they have completely runined this boat by changing it to an open deck when it was Celcius it was a great looking boat now it looks a real mess.

This boat was originally built as a tandem deck raceboat. it is made of wood and epoxy. the tandem deck opening was widened to create side by side seating and a bench rear seat that comfortably seats 5.
Presently it has early 160hp 2-litre powerheads. [ not the ones it raced on ].
If you want to do 100mph - bolt on a pair of xr2's or efi's and sell the 160's.!!!
With more power you could change the props for even more speed.!!!
I navigated for howard in the 2005 round the island race [probably the last time it got used ] and did a poker run about then. i think we surprised a few people at how quickly it can be driven safely over some big water.
This boat is now eligible for the historic class of the cowes-torquay-cowes.

Back in 1986 the order books got full for Lorne Campbell designed cats.
Gordon Wright who was Campbell's preferred builder could not take any more commissions.
Lorne then looked elsewhere for builders, he and Howard Wretham decided to use Ron Wolbold at Blufin.
Two boats were built, Howards 3D rig and a 3C boat for another customer.
The 3C customer decided that he did not have the money to race, and 18 months later sold the boat to me.
Neil Holmes served me up with a cracking XR2, and then I raced the boat.
Sadly when I finished the first race out, moored up to have a glass and a smoke, I was told in the Royal Southern bar that my boat was sinking.
In 70 miles racing I had managed to "de couple" the bottoms from the hull.
We had the thing re built by Ron - and got some respectable results after - but it was not one of my highlight moments in Offshore.

Realistically, the 4 litre cats of that era, with later XR2's (200's) maxed out at around 90. that one probably around 80-85.
Goeffs' Puma 25 ( 'Hospitality Inns') ran 100.24 on Windermere, but it had a little extra help.
75 with 150's is probably about right, an unusually honest advert.

It possibly could, but only when Howard is at the helm! Afterall, as he has repeatedly told me, ''After Steve Curtis, he's Britain's top throttleman'' !!!

Whoop!! What kind of 'extra help' did it have?
What speeds do you think i would see from a pair of 200 or 225 yams? I know it did 114 or something with the 260's... I'm aiming for 100... just.

Let's just say it was no 'laughing' matter.
I think it ran 93mph with stock XR2's, but did have a slight cheat on the water pickups to do that.
I saw 111mph on the Gafrig with stock 2.5-260's, though it didn't have remote water pickups at that time.
