Opti 175 Hp

Mercury Optimax 175 XL (25”) Outboard Motor - 2 Stroke Direct Fuel Injection

Priced to sell @ £4100

This is a very rare model 175 HP Mercury Optimax, manufactured Sept 2007. This was purchased, registered and owned by me from new in March 2009 direct from the dealer, sourced from E P Barrus stock, and commissioned in March 2009.

The engine is immaculate and has been extremely well maintained and cared for, as well as being serviced annually by my authorized Merc dealer from new

I have always used genuine Mercury/Quicksilver DFI Optimax oil, added Quickleen rigorously with practically all fuel tank fills and always flushed the engine after use - often with Salt-Away. All of these measures are intended to keep the internals and injectors as clean as possible – internal carbon build up or salt

All receipts, service records and printouts are available. The last service was 6th Feb at 902 run hours and she now has 971 showing on the Smartcraft instrumentation which is also included in the sale.

At 902 hrs service the run history shows:

501 at 0-749 rpm (diving biased use, as well as 2-3 weeks gentle cruising in the Ionian yearly)

151 hrs at 750- 2999 rpm

150 hrs at 3000-3999 rpm

85 hrs at 4000 - 4999 rpm

7.3 hrs at 5000-6249 rpm

I have maintained regardless of cost and the following major parts have been replaced during its life.

Replace Air compressor 06/12/2014 804 hrs #8M0060053

Replace Reed Valves with Chris Carson Marine Fibre 21/01/2016 902 hrs

Replace remote oil tank pick up and level sender 06/01/2016 902 hrs #816190A 5

The compressor is the latest model and was changed out as a precaution to prevent future catastrophic failure

Similarly, the standard steel reeds which were changed for fibre ones, again, in the event of future failure, no damage would be done to the engine. (Chris Carson Marine USA)

These two components have the potential for failure in the long term so I replaced them as a precaution and ‘insurance’

Warranty replaced items

Full set of new Ignition coils (after failure of coil No 6) 28/08/2011 339 hrs #883778A02

These other parts were warranty replacements surrounding an issue with the revs dropping when operating the trim

New Alternator 17/02/2014 #8M0064021

Power trim assembly complete 28/02/2014 # 855998A11

Replace LP Fuel pump 29/03/2014 702 hrs

Included are the side mount control box c/w premium 19' shift cables (new Jan 2015), Smartcraft SC1000 Speedo & Tacho gauges and all looms including the one for the remote oil reservoir and fuel tank levels.

The sender in the fuel tank is not included and needs to be USA specification for the Smartcraft to read it.

THE STAINLESS STEEL 4 BLADE PROPELLER AND HYDRAULIC STEERING ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE SALE

The outboard has now been removed from my RIB and is now on a stand at my marine engineers premises in Hull

THIS IS OFFERED ON A CASH AND COLLECTION BASIS ONLY

The outboard can be fastened to my new outboard shipping pallet for safer transit. As with all Opti outboards, the oil system MUST be primed during installation BEFORE staring to purge any air from the system. Failure to do so may result in severe engine damage. The priming is best done by a dealer using their Mercury Diagnostic System. It can be done manually as described in the Operation Manual but this will put the engine into break in mode - which increases the oiling rate and is likely to result in early fouled plugs etc.
