the boat is still for sale

i had a guy that was very interested but when you sell a boat from guernsey to the uk or ship it through the UK you have to pay the extra VAT on top of the sale price so i think its probably best for me to sell the boat in guernsey where it would only be £8,500

If it came from England in the first place the VAT will have been paid, the only way it will be owing VAT if it was bought from a VAT registered company and was invoiced without VAT. All you need to do is find some evidence of VAT being paid by someone - sometimes easier said than done!

Defo eayser said then done. I got stiched up buying a lourne campbell cat from guernsey in 2007.They wanted original paper work from when boat was new to prove vat was paid, whos got that from a 80/90s race boat.
Didnt have money to pay straight away so they charged me an extra £75 to leave it there over night,thanks condore ferrys. And to top it all the cat was pretty fked
