Does anyone happen to have a low water pick-up for a yamaha 90 ? ...

OR

Even one with an engine attached

Not sure if a LWP would be legal for IIIB, it never used to be allowed but might have changed. Expert chip in if you know different. Lower unit had to be standard. could plug up the higher holes though

Dont take it as gospel Been out of touch Class III since the last ice age.

CLE & Sportmasters come as standard kit for XR2's & 200XS hence OK. Just depends on the way people will look at G.5 (e) MMMMHHHH creativity

This is where i originally bought the big foot nose cone from,
and fitted it myself. Just requires some patience, and time.
Not that buying one nose cone , would help there economy
that much !
I did put a couple of tacks of weld on though after fitting
and testing as showed movement along fixing line. What does
everyone else do ?

In 1995 I nicked an idea from class 3D.

Pretty simple 2 x stainless pipes (either side of the motor) not attached but pushing in the water all the same.

Sadly Wilson's mechanic passed away, I had given up racing, and that idea got lost in history.

5 or 6 years later when I returned to 3B the "nose cones" were de rigeur.

When we ran 83mph (one way) on Windermere we needed those little pipes feeding water into the engine!

I use the Bobs machine shop one too. Weld it on first as it will always move with just epoxy and it is critical it is aligned properly. Remove the water pump and housing and the intake strainers. Use tape to cover the intakes and fill the water intake cavity to above the intakes (not too high leave some capacity under the pump) with the supplied epoxy this will stop the water pressure from blowing out the filler later. Fill the void behind the nosecone with the epoxy and use it for the first rough fairing. After doing quite a few of these with trial and error I do the final cosmetic filling with a plastic padding product called Chemical Metal we could run the V6 boxes over 100mph without it cracking.

Hi Techteam,
Yeah got a Bob's machine shop nose cone,
Pic 1 - Didn't trust having just the epoxy so got it welded
Pic 2 - Plenty of the supplied epoxy but finished off with plastic padding marine epoxy filler rather than chemical metal.
Pic 3 - All finished

Nice Job, I used to make up a new bottom oil plug out of magnetic stainless solid bar if you don't you could break out some of the filler round the plug. Are you allowed to square the skeg up a bit ?

Nice job, looks good. Have attached pictures for ref; of skeg shape.
Although i couldn't upload in great quality. But does appear squarer
and sharper. Launch / test date ?

Just wondering if any material has been added to the rear of the skeg as in pic one it appears to protrude much further back than reshaping ours would allow ? or perhaps there is a difference between early/ late engines .. this being quite early ..

in your opinion is it worth re-working it yet or should i wait till she hits the bottom with it ?

as for launch date we were expecing it to be ready for Jan 17th but due to the cold snap that may be put back a little

After a bit more research, it would appear that the later ones differ
slightly. Although the earlier ones, which are straighter on the back edge,
are still straighter on the front and btm edge with no curve.
But the earlier ones also have a wider cavitation or vent plate, depending
on your interpretation.
Perhaps someone could send you a paper template of an early one !
