Puma 26 cat for sale...

Hi everyone...

Well I've had a long think and I'm considering selling the cat.
Basically I've spent a very long time building her, but i hadn't realised just what was involved with having a baby. This last stage in the build is taking up a lot of my time and i feel i'm missing the first months of my daughter's life.
I would just slow down the build (even more) and carry on, but it's drained me financially and if i'm honest i can now see she's hardly a practical family boat.

To cut a long and sad story short, if anyone is genuinely interested, please make me an offer. I'm not in a hurry to sell her and would be happy to keep her, but i've got a couple of offers of much more 'family friendly' boats I'd be interested in if she sells (one is a supercharged R24 )

She's nearly finished now. The powerheads are built, the interior is being trimmed as i speak and I've finished spraying the exterior. The engines will just need spraying and fitting (and need a few parts i haven't got yet, sensors etc) and a cover hasn't yet been made but that's just about it. My 'hospitality inns mission' thread shows the masses of work I've done.
As most people know, she used to run 90's with xr2's and 114 or something with 2.5's. She's now running a pair of race prepped 200 yams with bullet gearboxes so should at least see the 90's, if not touch the magic 100?

Very basic spec list is: Puma 26 hull with seaquel deck fitted, twin 200 yamahas (mint inside with very low hours), pair 30p cleavers, twin bob's manual lifters, twin ride glide steering with tilt helm, fully fitted and wired dash with vhf and plotter, totally newly fitted interior.

If it weren't for the current situation i really would be keeping her, if i don't get a worthwhile offer then i will. But if someone wants her and wants to make a reasonable offer, I'll let her go to get something more suitable. Here's a few recent pics to give people the idea...

Cheers, James

oops!

Forgot the pics!!

The red seat shown is how they used to be, they're going purple and white with contrasting pipng The other pics are how she used to be.

I truly will miss her, but if this is the way things needs to go, so be it.

James, I’m sad to read this thread, you have put so much into the boat it seems a travesty to finish your journey now, but I fully understand your wish to spend more time with your young family...

Good Luck with the Sale "She" is a great boat and the work is a credit to you..

All the best mate

Thanks Martin, I'm really not sure if i's what i want to do yet, I feel as though she's a part of me now. I'm just putting the feelers out to see if anyone offers a decent price. Wish i had the money and room to keep her to one side as a fun boat!

Still not sure what to do... I've spent most of the day thinking about it. I know it'd probably be for the best for me to sell her but deep down i just don't want to!

Andy - I did, but i sold it mate. They're pretty expensive!

Wow, I'd never realised so many people were really following the build! It's quite humbling to get all this support and encouragement. She is so close to being done that it would be a shame to just end now and sell her. I'm carrying on with the build for now, I'm not gonna just stop. I'll keep the for sale post up too and we'll see what happens.
Thanks again for all the support guys, it may just be all it takes fo rme to change my mind.

Cheers, James

keep it, you'll regret it otherwise. it's not as if you've just started the build and you won't get your moneys worth until she's finished.

+ I want to go for a spin

Well in that case!

I must admit, every time i look at her now i realise how much i'd miss her if she sold. I'd quite like to go for a blast too! No interest yet, everyone is too interested in me finishing the build! Maybe i am destined to keep her!

I dry stored my boat for a few years for family commitments, ive just about got ready to try it this year, my little girls nearly four now and the time has just flown by. Not using or working on the boat has given me time to reflect on the project and also a new drive to try more things ive had the rib 10 years now and still got lots of things i want to do to improve it.projects take as long as they take i hope mine will never be finished perfection is a goal not reality keep the boat and pick it back up when the time's right enjoy your family and your boat, everyone's a winner
