Maybe that's why you were faster ?
We were both racing in Class III 2 litre and were therefore both racing XR2's when we were competing against each other, when we were running in the RIB class we ran with an XS200 and eventually an ROS 280 which is when we got the 91.5mph record on Coniston.

The photo below shows the boat in Poole in 2005 (photo by Dave Ormiston) and whilst the boat didn't have wings Lorne had designed some lift into the rear of the boat, it certainly flew very level on the big jumps!

Actually we got two records, I still hold the RIB F1 record at 90.15, the other was beaten by Hutchy in a Phantom (to be fair I think he had a bit more power than us) which was at 91.57mph

I've heard a whisper he's after your rib record this year . I believe he did close to 97mph in the Phantom .

I would have to check but I'm fairly sure he would have had to race in that class to qualify - not sure if it's only World records that applies to?

If its the same tilt trailer the Rendalls had, that alone is a work of engineering art....
